A gun buyback event at two Minneapolis fire stations has been so popular Saturday that both stations are now closed.

The city teamed up with Pillsbury United Communities for the gun buyback event.

The event began at 10 a.m. Saturday and was supposed to run until 6 p.m. at Stations 14 and 17 in Minneapolis, but the Visa gift cards that were being handed out in exchange for the guns have run out.

An estimated 150 guns were dropped off during the event, according to Minneapolis police.

Liberals, managing to shoot themselves by proxy... just like baited pigs into alligator waters. They love the baiter making them feel good and never figure the mean alligator/terrorists are the baiter’s

From the videos that I saw, these were mostly old and inexpensive bolt action rifles. The first choice for gang bangers.

And, yet, the local police were gushing about getting these guns off of the street.

They were never on the street. Old crap dug out of closets for a gift card.

I saw a list of their prices and they were paying pretty good. It would have been easy to turn in a bunch of old junkers and make a lot of profit.

Pawn shop owners love these buybacks - all the useless trashy guns that should be thrown in the garbage bought by do-gooders.

Suckers!

I cringe when I see a valuable gun turned in by some idiot.

-Thomas Jefferson.

The left loves his quote on separation of church and state, but seem to forget this one.

Police say those sales are legal as long as those selling and those buying are not felons.

But are OK if the sellers are turning them in for VISA gift cards.

Prices offered (from a link at the site - underlines mine):
Donate today to get guns off the streets, and into the hands of artists. #ArtIsMyWeapon
$300 = compensation for turning in an assault weapon
$200 = compensation for turning in handguns and large caliber rifles
$100 = compensation for turning in shotguns, and small caliber rifles
$25 = compensation for turning in inoperable guns of any kind, antique firearms, or BB guns.
Live ammunition and firearm accessories accepted for free.
