I don’t know that I’d ever use the term “ecosystem”, much less care to be part of one.
I remember hearing the word “ecosystem” in Elementary school science and the teacher was referring to how a swamp is an ecosystem

If you have purchased any amount of applications on Google Play Store or the Apple Store; then you have an investment in that "ecosystem". Now on the Apple side, most users happily drop $0.99 for an app that has no ads. Google tracks and monitors your email, locations, texts and also bombards you with ads that are based upon data gathered from your email, texts, locations and past purchases. Thus; like it or not; if you use Android you are tied into their ecosystem.
Apple users have a financial tie into the Apple ecosystem. Every app they have purchased is tied to their AppleID. This is the same with Android, any app you purchased is tied to your Google account. If you leave Google, you leave any app you may have purchased. Thus, the ecosystem
