NFL Players and the National Anthem
Me | 9/10/2016 | Me

I know this probably wont have any real effect on the NFL players who decide to not stand for the National Anthem, but I would like a list of all players who don't stand. My reason is pretty simple....I don't want any of them on my Fantasy Football team.

I sent an email to my league asking them to tell me if any of my players fail to stand so that I can drop them. I realize that this thing is gaining some momentum and some great players may join in. It's easy for some people to say, "punish them", but if you might lose something, would you kick them off of your team.

Idealistically, it would be neat to see if that idea would catch on and what it would do to Fantasy Football leagues and in turn what, if any effect it would have on the players who refuse to stand.

But why do you care? I stand. You stand. Why should I give a crap what he does?

Who said anything about forcing someone to believe what I believe?

I’m not breaking any sweat about NFL players and their disrespect. What I’m doing is managing my fantasy football team. I’m not making anyone else do as I’m doing. In fact, this league is a pay to play, so if I give up good players and other team owners pick them up, then my chances of winning a weekly prize or the grand prize goes out the window.

In essence, I will lose by taking a stand with my team, but I’m alright with that. I’m waiting to see if other team owners are also willing to lay a little on the line for something they say they believe in.

Enjoy standing while you can, because this is the beginning of the end of the National Anthem being played at sporting events.

I care because high school athletes - entire teams - are now emulating this idiot. It never occurred to them to sit out the Anthem before. He’s also being compared to Rosa Parks. Please.

All because his employer doesn’t have the backbone to tell him he can’t protest at the workplace and should do it on his own time.

Hate all the police because a handful are causing a problem.

Boycott all the football players because a handful are causing a problem.

Vermont, I know without a doubt, that if we allow this, it will spread until the Anthem is not played anywhere but on military grounds (its being ignored there too). Then it becomes, I am offended at the honor guard, the Stars and Stripes, the officers pulling security, and so on.

It will spread until the display of the American Flag is illegal, even in front of government buildings and those citizens that display it will have their houses burned down by the socialist thugs who are bent on destroying our way of life.

They are pervasive through our nation, calling themselves our countrymen but in name only.

We must unequivocally draw lines and stand by a credo displayed by the United States Army Drill Sergeant’s breast badge.(Often called the Pumpkin Patch)

“This we will defend.”

Can't live without your beer & football? I'll mark you down as in the BLM camp with Little Skittles, Big Mike Brown & the rest of the cop-hating thugs.

Ok, you are talking about a few guys, of a single league.

I think you are overreacting to this. A VAST majority of leagues will continue to play it. From little league to the pros.

I used to attend 2-3 NCAA games every day from Labor Day to Mothers Day. I’ve seen far too many games where the recorded music failed and the teams and visitors sang the anthem. I know what I am talking about.

You are expecting a slippery slope where there is none.

Ok, agree to disagree and I respect your opinion.

But consider this.

BLM went from nothing and nobody in 2012 to a nationwide policy and culture changing tour-de-force in less than four years and I put nothing past their ability to inspire the feeble minded to acts of defiance.

Also considering the millions of dollars BLM has received from Ford Motor Company and Soros, combined with the main stream media’s approach to BLM as a legitimate civil rights protest, you will see this movement grow.

I also think you are correct that simple patriotism will become shamed because our culture has flipped the script and made the bad things acceptable and the good things , bad.
