It's an unfortunate running "in-joke" here on FR, that when a news story does not identify the ethnicity or race of the perp, some folks assume it's a typically black thug, and so they use "Amish" (presumably non-black, non-thug) to call attention to the lack of specificity of the news report, and to point up the assumption.

For some of us, the "Amish" in-joke has long since run its course. It's been particularly unfortunate in those very few cases where, in fact, a perp WAS Amish. But it lingers...

The Amish joke is a tradition on these boards not to poke fun at the Amish who are actually good Americans. It is satire used to deride the P.C. media as the joke they are.

True for some, but obviously not everyone. Either way, no need to get all up in arms when someone does. I do find it interesting that I can find no pictures of either the perp. or the victim in this case. Why is that I wonder?

Just out of curiosity has there ever been an Amish who was charged in a crime posted here, other than one I remember of them partying in a field and disturbing the peace or something along that line. I'm sure there are instances of Amish committing crimes, but it is rare. Either that or they are so clever that they actually get away with their crimes.
