Full title : Demand for exorcisms rises while Christian faith in the US declines - Exorcists cite spiritual void, failure of mental healthcare system and rise in pagan and demonic activities as causes
After the recent news of Father Gabriele Amorth’s death and the recent unveiling of Fox’s new “Exorcist” miniseries, the Catholic rite of exorcism is once again in the news. Often looked at as a prayer service seen only in the movies, the rite of exorcism is something more and more people in the US are looking to priests to perform, believing that evil has infiltrated their lives and they need to be delivered.
According to a recent article in the Telegraph, “the number of official priest exorcists [in the US] has more than quadrupled from 12 to 50” in the past 10 years. Father Gary Thomas and Father Vincent Lampert, both exorcists in the US, believe there are many factors that have influenced the rise in requests for exorcisms.
They explained to the Telegraph that some of the factors included “an expanding spiritual void in the lives of Americans, the diminishing authority of the Church, and the failure of the mental healthcare system.” Also, a rise in pagan and demonic activities has greatly contributed to the increase in requests.
The soul or spirit exists separate from the physical body. It is what gives the physical body life after conception and it detaches from the physical body when a person dies.
Sometimes it gets stuck in this realm and becomes what we perceive as ghosts. Sometimes it is recruited by satan and becomes one of his minions.
What causes it to move on its own? Why, the fingers touching it of course. Put one on the table, in a lab environment, with no one touching it. If it moves I’ll pay shut up
No, I don’t think they charge. They do it for free to keep gullible people amazed at their powers. I’m the one who will accept money to drive away your poltergeist.

And by the way, you said you got rid of that poor guy with cancer ghost. What did you do with him? He didn’t deserve to get whacked.

Thanks for the compliment.. But it is actually not me doing it. Or should I say it is only me doing it when it does not work!!!
I am noticing that the energy in the Holy Spirit is getting stronger daily. I have no doubt but that we are in the times Jesus told/warned us about.
I’ve noticed that the Light shining through the portal to Heaven is shining through as though the realm of darkness is getting thinner. We are truly living in wonderful times.. rough times, but wonderful.
I’ll admit, I’m having a hard time with it. The consequences of sinful actions are accelerated. I really need to watch my thoughts all the time, especially in this election year. The message I keep getting is to “Rise above all evil you encounter by turning to God in Prayer.” i.e “Love even your enemy.”
It’s even to the point that I feel the need to rebuke evil thoughts in the name of Jesus constantly as they come at me like fast pitch baseballs from all directions. Everyone’s garbage is coming to the surface and they are getting real uneasy and short tempered.
We have a young girl and it has been over a year. She has been medically tested and psychologically tested. We do have a trained exorcist in our diocese and 10 to 15 priests come once a week. She is never allowed to be alone because they are afraid she will hurt herself.
I’ve only seen her act out twice and that was still when they thought she was having extreme panic attacks. The second time I saw her I said “That is no panic attack!” It was frightening. I cried and prayed I didn’t know what else to do.
The last time I was in the building when it happened her mother and aunt went to her immediately. When they came back the aunt was all scratched up on the face and the mother’s glasses were broken. I saw her afterward and her hair was sopping wet and she could barely walk.

I’ve had them bark, hiss and growl at me. But for some reason they can’t come close to me. I’ve found that by holding my hand out, palm toward them, there is an energy coming out of my hand that forces them to the floor and holds them there without me ever touching them. (The person and the attachment)
The important thing is to feel love toward the child and the attachment at all times. If you fear them, you get stung.
I’ve been stung quite a few times. It is usually a lesson that I have not kept my own life pure. These things know all of your sins and can mirror them right in your face.
They’ve only thrown me against the wall one time many years ago.(and the possessed woman never touched me when it happened) I asked why in prayer and was told that I needed the experience in order to not fear them. Your strength comes through your weakness.
10 to 15 priests.. that is way too many... I don’t even want family pets around when this work is done as it creates hiding places. Never to be done in a public forum.
They will jump from one person to another. You don’t want a vulnerable priest in the room or you end up working with them as well. However, the more people that pray for the young woman the better. Prayerful energy is like a blow torch of fire to them.
I’ve had them instantly appear in other locations many miles away if they slip away while the work is being done. It is very important to properly dispose of them and heal the wound in the soul that allowed them into the person.
I usually ask the demonic spirit what happened to the person that created the wound allowing them to enter and they tell me. Often they enter children when they are molested from the person who is perpetrating the harm.

The power of God’s Love is very healing to a soul, even if it does not have a physical body. In this instance, the man was very angry at his mother for dying and abandoning him. He felt rejected and buried the anger. He was projecting this anger onto a woman that he loved, but could never tell her.
I just communicated a healing conversation with the woman he loved to set them both free.
Forgiveness is the most powerful tool as it can set a soul free to cross over to Heaven. Fear, hatred and guilt are like anchors that hold a soul back. Often, the Holy Spirit will cleanse the soul so it is able to be in the Light. If it doesn’t, the soul or spirit usually is afraid of the Light and avoids it. They fear it will kill them. This is the great lie that satan uses to control his minions.

Be careful what you offer as it just might manifest. Stranger things have happened!
I don’t know how many priests work on exorcism, they often just pray and he isn’t even there.

With all due respect to tired&retired, I believe he is engaging in activities that are both physically and spiritually dangerous, for him and those he is trying to help.
Demons are real and so are exorcisms, but those are the only realities that are to be considered, first of all. I think Redneck’s point is valid, and what initially caused a red flag for me. Again, with respect, I must say I do not think tired&retired has a firm grasp of Scripture if he believes in “ghosts” (”spirit of a guy”) that plague people. The only spirits who plague people are demons, and they aren’t human.
To assign a humanity to them already slips into their trap, which is to get away from the Truth, God, and believe a lie. So however effective such an “exorcism” may have appeared to be, if a demon is involved it is only tricking you into believing you triumphed.
The only men who have the ability to combat demons, literally, are priests and not even all of them. While they all have the ability they all don’t have sanction from their bishop to do such battle. Only priests with such a sanction can and should do it.
All others are just looking for trouble (including priests who don’t have permission). No matter how many times one has read or how much one knows Scripture. Satan and all his fallen compatriots are many many many times smarter than any human who have ever lived and know Scripture better than anyone else, including any man, no matter how many decades he’s studied the Word.
We’re taking about creatures who have existed since the beginning of time itself. There’s no way you can know Scripture better than them.
You need the power of Christ through the Sacraments to defeat them, not knowledge of Scripture alone.

All the knowledge of scripture will not help you if you are not filled with the Holy Spirit. The power is in the Holy Spirit flowing through Jesus from God.
If you think your tools such as candles, crosses, and even the Bible will do this, you are fooled.
I trust God and His Son Jesus. I do not trust myself. When doing this work the feeling of their Love flowing through me is beyond words. That in of itself is more reward than I ever could have imagined. No amount of money could ever replace that wonderful feeling. I am humbled just being worthy of participating.
I truly would walk through the Valley of the Shadow of Death for them as when they are with me, I can fear no evil. It is not possible as Their perfect Love casts out any fear or evil.
Long ago I gave my life to God to use me. If I die today and join Him it is a Blessing. In addition, before I would allow myself to perform this work, I prayed that if I was ever heading in a direction that would harm someone, that God would take my physical life before it happened. I trust Him far more than I do myself as I am a screw up.
I must admit, God has blessed me even when I did not turn to Him in prayer. He got my attention stronger than any baseball bat to the side of my head could ever have done.
As to those who claim that I am doing the work of satan, I can only answer the same as Jesus did to the Pharisees.
“Would satan cast out satan?”
“”Will a house divided against itself stand?”
“You shall know a tree by the fruit it bears.”
My experience is that the trust required in God to perform this work is beyond intellect. It can only come from the school of hard knocks and you are only allowed to enter the school after you have hit absolute bottom as an empty vessel and turned to Jesus as your only option to pick you up.
If we are full of ourselves we have no room for God.
Even before I read the Bible, I would hear the Bible scriptures being spoken from my mouth to test spirits. Verses that I had never read.
I did not venture into this work by my choice. In fact I would not ever choose to do it. It just happens! I do it only to serve My Father’s Will.
There was once a man who baptized with water, he was nothing in comparison to the one who came and baptized with the Holy Spirit.
In my own understanding and experience, you must be baptized with the Holy Spirit to perform this work. And, no earthly Priest can perform this ritual.
Many Priests are far intellectually superior in their understanding and knowledge of the Bible than I could ever hope to be. For me, the words are written upon my heart much more than they exist in my head.
When you allow the Holy Spirit to enter you, there exists an experience where it feels as though a hundred volumes of encyclopedias have been downloaded into your head instantly. Ask any question on any subject and you instantly know the answer as an epiphany. If this ability is used for anything other than to seek to better understand how God works (This is also my definition of “science.”) then it is misused. You must first know enough to ask the question before you are given the answer. It is very humbling as every answer received leads to a hundred more unanswered questions. Thus, I am a seeker.
When your experience of the daily events in life in this worldly reality brings you back to down to earth, you lose the knowledge you had access to at the higher level of consciousness. Our life goal is to Love God at all times with all of us that is, and strive to be with God at all times in all that we do. We can only do so by letting go of this worldly reality. When we do we perceive a whole new reality as our perception of reality is a function of the level of consciousness from which we view it. (This is also why time collapses as you approach heaven)
When we meditate and pray on our Love of God, much that we cannot perceive at the lower earthly levels such as the consciousness of others and their contents of stored thoughts and memories within that consciousness (what we refer to as a soul or spirit) becomes physical to our perception. this is the true “Born of the Spirit” as you are born again into a new reality where you perceive not just from your five senses, but directly from your soul or spirit. This only happens when the Holy Spirit resides within you.
PS. This is also why the greatest sin is to reject the Holy Spirit.
