Correct. Further, if you set up your browser to use alternate DNS servers, freerepublic.com would still work.
Thanks Laz. I will save alternate DNS Servers for another day—too busy watching Mark Richt kill Tech. :-)
Time a little lesson. First, the Greek word "aiōnios," pronoucned "ahee-o'-nee-os"
From the Strong's Concordance, "perpetual (also used of past time, or past and future as well): - eternal, for ever, everlasting, world (began)."
From the Thayer's Greek Dictionary, "1) without beginning and end, that which always has been and always will be, 2) without beginning, or 3) without end, never to cease, everlasting."
Now, that being said, there is a Greek word that is very similar. That word is "aiōn," pronounced "ahee-ohn'"
From the Strong's Concordance, "properly an age; by extension perpetuity (also past); by implication the world; specifically (Jewish) a Messianic period (present or future): - age, course, eternal, (for) ever (-more), [n-]ever, (beginning of the, while the) world (began, without end)."
From the Thayer's, "1) without beginning and end, that which always has been and always will be, 2) without beginning, 3) without end, never to cease, everlasting."
The first Greek word I mentioned is what is used in Matthew 18:8, not the second one.
You have to be careful what Bible you're using and what Greek concordance you're using as well. The King James is head and shoulders the best translation out there and the Strong's Concordance based on the Textus Receptus and the Masoretic Text is the most reliable Greek to English concordance on the market.
It absolutely means “age” or “ages”. It was changed 1580 years in the kjv after it was written by who ever wrote Matthew from “Age” to “eternal”. That was not the word.
There is no life after death except in Jesus. Sheol means “grave or pit”. You won’t contest that. Then Hades was created in Greek to translate Sheol. — same meaning Aramaic was “Gahenna” used a few times which mean the Jerusalem garbage dump. ( Hinnon) . None of that is eternal life. So everyone rushed to Matthew and saw the mistranslated and hung there hat on that. Of course that doesn’t work. When you die you go to “heaven” or oblivion. That is God’s Word. Dante’s enferno is not in the Bible. Enjoy.
SkyNet. But you aren’t going to like it.
It just goes to show the truth in the statement "you can lead a horse to the water, but you can't make him drink."
Good point. All we can do is vote to protect our children .
