Melania Trump’s debate night style may have looked understated, but it spoke volumes.
Sporting Gucci’s “pussy-bow” blouse, the former model caused a stir Sunday night as people wondered if the wardrobe choice was intended to be a statement related to her husband’s latest campaign scandal.
Just two days before, a 2005 video surfaced that appeared to show Donald Trump making lewd remarks, including, most notably, that he goes up to women and “grab[s] them by the p—y.” The footage published Friday records him telling then-“Access Hollywood” host Billy Bush that “when you’re a star, they let you do it.”
Donald was married to Melania at the time the comments were made, according to the Washington Post, which obtained the tape.
Melania released a statement Saturday to say that while his words were “unacceptable and offensive” to her, they are not reflective of him.
“I hope people will accept his apology, as I have, and focus on the important issues facing our nation and the world,” she said.

I had a business colleague whose wife was game for nearly any discussion or conversation, including the p word. But one day he brazenly said the c word in her presence. She went physical on him and beat the snot out of him.

While bows at the neck had been worn since at least the nineteenth century, the term “pussy bow” or “pussy cat bow” took hold in the 20th century. In 1934, the St. Petersburg Times offered a pattern for an Anne Adams dress featuring a convertible collar which could be worn in four different ways, including as “an intriguingly feminine pussy cat bow tied high under your chin.”
In 1947, pussy cat bows were part of the look inspired by Gibson Girls and 1890s fashions created by designers such as Omar Kiam.
It was popular with designers such as Coco Chanel and Yves Saint Laurent, and by the 1960s had been widely taken up by the American market.
During the 1980s the pussy bow blouse became a key part of Margaret Thatcher’s political image after she became Prime Minister of the United Kingdom in 1979, and became closely linked with her.
Thatcher reportedly said she thought bows were “rather softening” and “pretty,” and at her funeral in 2013, the then Prime Minister’s wife paid tribute by wearing a pussy bow blouse. The Thatcher look was imitated by other female politicians. –Wikipedia–
