WaPo cannot come to grips with the fact the Kaepernick protest--starting with wearing the "Cops as Pigs" socks during practice and the T-shirt with pictures of Fidel Castro on it--immediately turned off a LOT of viewers. And many of them are unlikely to return.

Then of course, this season's share of awful to watch games aren't helping things, either. The lack of decent offensive line play is really hurting quarterback performance, too.

The big chink in the armor of the NFL’s argument is that college football ratings are going UP. They’re floating these cheesy excuses for more reasons than just calming down the fans that are still with them. The NFL is trying to calm down the sponsors that are getting jittery.
