Fear of what may be coming (Vanity)
10/15/16 | Hoagy62

Posted on 10/15/2016 7:55:33 AM PDT by hoagy62

So, here I am, sitting in the pre-dawn hours of a Saturday in October, three weeks away from an election that will determine the course of our nation's future.

As I am sitting here, reading the various articles on FR, I note that there are a few that are stating that the possibility of an actual shooting war with Russia is a valid possibility. This is due to our idiot President and his lackeys accusing Russia of interfering with our elections.

As I read these articles, a cold dread enters my mind...a dread I have not felt in over a decade.

When I was growing up, I (and, I'm sure most of you) lived under the constant threat of the old Soviet Union launching an all-out nuclear war against the United States. When I was a teenager, I was very curious about such things, and I studied nuclear war, how it might be fought, and how to defend against it. On that last part, I soon realized that there really is NO way to defend against it. There is nowhere you could go in this world to get totally away from the after-effects of a nuclear exchange.

In the 80's I joined the US Army. In my time there, I was stationed in Germany. I was part of a unit that was armed with nuclear weapons (Pershing 2). If the balloon went up, I was sitting right smack dab in the middle of a bulls-eye for Soviet targeters. We trained for the eventuality that the Soviets would come pouring through the Fulda Gap in vast numbers, hoping to conquer Western Europe with a massive lightning assault...and knowing that, if they did, they'd probably unleash WW3. And, it would NOT be confined to Europe.

I left the Army in 1986. Some 3 years later, the Berlin Wall fell. Soon after, many Eastern Bloc regimes also fell. And, finally, in 1991, after a failed attempt by hard-liners to re-assert a strong ultra-Communist government, the Soviet Union fell. I breathed a sigh of relief, thinking that....maybe, just maybe....the threat of nuclear war was done.

Some 10 years later, for a few days in September of 2001, the fear returned after 9/11. I wondered if Islamic terrorists had gained access to a nuke and were about to use it against us. Thankfully, that fear turned out to be unfounded (for now, at least), and my fear subsided.

Now, 15 years after 9/11, I find that fear coming back in all it's dark oppression. Yes, I knew that Russia still has nukes, and they're still poised on missiles, but I never thought they'd have a reason to use them ever again. Now, thanks to the blustering and threats from our idiot President (and his even-stupider Vice President), it seems that Russia may have a reason to use them again.

Do I have to live in fear again, waiting for the sound of air-raid sirens? Am I going to have to be listening for the sounds on an EAS alert on my radio or TV, stating we're under a notional emergency due to a inbound nuclear attack?

Where I live an work, there is no escape. I did some checking this morning. Where I live, I am about 5 miles from a major Joint Base. I can guess there are at least 2 Russian warheads targeted there. Where I work, I am in right smack-dab in a triangle of three naval bases, one of which is a submarine base for Trident ballistic missile subs. At the farthest, one base is only 7 miles away.

What can I do amidst all this talk of possible war?

I lived a tenth of a mile from a missile silo in the mid-90’s. One day, during a picnic in the park, we watched a truck pull up, and saw the missile come up out of the ground and onto the truck, which then drove away. It was quite a thing, realizing there was a nuclear warhead right there before our eyes.

Pray for Putin
That he is the better man than many loathe and fear but others think otherwise, and that Russia will be divinely guided in how it responds to deliberate Obama administration provocation

...The Israelis and Saudis know this so they are becoming allies as America shows weakness. That said, I think a proxy war in the Middle East will come first (Psalms 83)

I am of the “come quickly, Lord.” crowd so I am not worried.

That said, remember how peaceful the relations were with Russia when republican Reagan was president? Remember the good relationship George W. Bush had with Putin?

Why do democrats feel the need to “reset” relations with Russia? Why do they feel the need to make Russia the enemy when it’s islam reigning terror around the world?

Is it that democrats benefit from strained relations with Russia? Is it that obama and hillary are at the beck and call of the muslim brotherhood now? Does the CIA benefit from conflict? So many unanswered questions.

I read your post in full syympathy. Growing up, elementary school in the 60’s, my school never had those nuke drills. We were openly told that it was pointless to have drills as we were near the largest military post in the free world, there was no way we would survive a nuclear attack. It freaked me out as an elementary school kid.

Now, we had tornado drills and fire drills, but it’s beyond my comprehension as a mom and granny, why tbey told us that starting in 1st grade. Had to be commie propaganda from the NEA. My husband is from another state where they did have those nuke drills. He’s shocked that we didn’t have them and why. The information that we’d be wiped out is all true. I just didn’t need to know that when I went to school in 1963.

Yeah, I share your concern from these news reports. I’m praying and campaigning for President Trump. I don’t fear death, but I fear for the future of these United States. We have 21 grandchildren whom I want to live in liberty.

We can say “Obama will start a war.” “Hillary will start a war.” It just might be Putin who starts a war. But the bottom line is a war is going to be very bad for us no matter who starts it. And if the nukes start flying, it will be bad for the world.

And when we think about it, who would NEED to use nukes more than anyone else? Little, tiny Israel. Then it will truly be her against the world. Then comes Jesus! When that happens, it will be good for some but real bad for others.

We might all be wise to get cash, food, water and ammo, if we can, just for self preservation while waiting for Him.

But, if it’s true that bombers are being lined up at my old “home” of Diego Garcia, then something big is coming!

“What can I do amidst all this talk of possible war?”

get out of your mind and into God’s word and HE will tell you what to do.

I’ll start you off:
#1 Fear not (numerous verses) pray (talk with God) often.
#2 He has overcome the world (John 16:33)
#3 Abide in HIM and you have peace in the midst of storms, trials etc - more than one verse - look them up :)
#4 speak words of God not thoughts in your head! the mind is a place satan loves to get a foothold.
#5 plenty more things God can easily tell you personally if you give Him a chance instead of listening to the track of your own thoughts in your head.

Ain’t a “no expiration” stamp on any of us.

Say a prayer and forget about it.

Donate to and vote for Trump.

Worrying HAS NEVER helped a problem, at least in my case.

speaking of prayer, I am reading " The Daniel Prayer" by Anne Graham Lotz, Prayer that moves heaven and changes nations! I recommend everyone read this book as it is where we are at right now.

Just a suggestion, get right with God before you go to meet Him.

And it'll make your time here a lot easier, too.

Best. Suggestion. Ever.

For anything.

Vlad is smarter than we think. He’s not going to jump the gun on anything right now.

We should:

1) Thank Hellary for showing the world Trump doesn’t take guff off anyone. He stands up for himself and will stand up for America.

2) Get out the vote for Trump.

Our children are too weak to fight anything worse than a cold. When they venture out from mama’s basement, they craw whimpering into the nearest university safe place to cuddle with stuffed animals and chew on green crayons.

I think Obama is posturing...the number 1 sign of weakness. Why else would he do everything in public?!?! Reagan and Nixon never did this...

I completely empathize with your fear.

I grew up in Atlanta and realized that it would be a target for numerous reasons. When I moved away from home I lived in other major cities that would also be targets though not just because of the major population centers also as military or industrial targets. I've lived in smaller cities like Tucson but my home was with line of site of Davis Monthan AFB. Now I live in "Rocket City" (Huntsville, AL), so a definite big target is painted on us.

So like you I have lived my life within range of first strike targets and like you I know that the Anti-Ballistic Missile (ABM) does not exist. So in silent resignation I accept the fact that me and my wife would be gone very early in any nuclear exchange. I also accept that almost all of our children and grandchildren would be as well.

Some people may find solace in their faith, I do not. For me I do not expect anything can be done. So the only thing we can do is to press on through our fears and worries. I try every day to love my family, do the best possible work for my job, be king to my fellow man and have peace that whatever happens will be over quickly.

It would be easy to give up, but my goal is to make every day better or as good as the last. I have long given up on watching the news and I am very selective of what I read on-line. You might find this helpful. It sure has helped me.

It’s wag the dog time.

Obama and his band of leftist a-holes are determined to get Heinous and if it takes a war, then so be it.

But a war can get Trump boosted.

So it’s not to rally Americans around the President. It’s to distract from the stealing of the election.

If the election is stolen, everything about the stealing will take a backseat to the war.

Hopefully, our missile defense system will work as it should.
obama’s a dangerous MoFo. Now that he’s made the public announcement about a cyber strike, what happens if Russia’s internet suddenly goes down due to whatever reason? Putin’s going to think it was us.

Does anyone else experience this kind of fear? What, if anything, can one do about it?

Sure. I'm within 10 miles of two Naval bases, and 5 miles from another. If it comes to nuke conflict, those in the military will probably fare better than we civilians. As to what can be done about it, electing Trump might be a start; that is, if there's time.
