The definition I used came from Wikipedia but I heard other variations involving red with soil and/or land.
A long time ago I was looking at some census records on microfilm (before Al Gore invented the internet) and ran across an American Indian whose first name was “Oklahoma.” Probably the 1880 census somewhere in Kansas (maybe Cowley Co. or Sedgwick Co. or nearby).
