Well, call them what you want, “gourmet” burger places are all the rage nowadays.

Crains reports that the fast food changed closed all of its fast casual restaurants over the weekend,"

The fast food changed closed? The fast food chain, maybe?

Quality journalism, lol.

Aside from price, why this move? Are they going out of business?

Difference is price. At the end of the day and hamburger is a hamburger.

Minimum wage fallout or are they just leaving a war zone?

Leaving a war zone.

About 5 years ago I dated a lady whose daughter was the manager of a Red Robin restaurant in I think Madison Hgts., MIchigan and she was robbed at gun point.........

It’s obvious you’ve never run a business.

Do you expect the waiters to wait on you for free, use their napkins they pay for and dishes they pay someone to wash for free, sit in a space they’re paying to heat or cool and renting for free and drink their water they pay for for free?

Personally, I think their prices are reasonable for what you get in return. And their endless fries are fantastic.

Are you talking about Red Robin, or Culvers? I have been close enough to running a business. If the people do not like what you are selling at the price you are trying to get, it does not matter about overhead and stuff.

If Red Robin had impressed me with a quality experience, the price would be a little less of an issue. But since that did not happen, I do not feel obligated to help them pay their overhead and make profits.

Actually I do run my own business and have since 1985. Don’t expect anyone to work for free. Compared to other places in our area, we found the cost of the product offered by Red Robin to be excessive. Endless fries are not on the list of must haves for anyone in our family.

You can certainly continue to go to Red Robin. Our family will go to any one of a number of other places and get just as good a hamburger for much less money.

I disagree.

I'll have to weigh in with Doc. RR burgers are way overpriced and not nearly as good as one from Hardy's.

I disagree with yours.

I remember when the burgers were larger with larger buns and all was good.

Next time I went I felt cheated. I’d have paid more for the same quality. There’s good reason Carl’s JR has enjoyed success with their $6/Thickburger which, frankly, is better than anything at RR these days.

I now buy grass-fed beef and make my own almost exclusively. I don’t support sh1tburger franchises. Local restaurants only.

I thank RR for helping that transition.

At a “Fast Casual” place, you’re still ordering at the counter, but it’s not all coming out of a deep fryer. You might even get your stuff in a real bowl or plate that they wash and re-use. Chipotle and Panera come to mind immediately.

“will remain open but under a new nameplate, Red Robin Express”

I’m sure a name change will make the burgers taste better ...
