NFL's TV ratings are down, World Series suggests presidential election is not the culprit

The NFL's television ratings are down across the board and the league has blamed the decline on the presidential election. However, if that were the biggest reason, we would expect to see a similar decline in the MLB playoffs and that has not been the case.

After posting strong TV ratings during the early rounds of the playoffs, the World Series is off to a huge start with fans, averaging more than 19.0 million viewers through two games, according to Sports Media Watch. That's up 32% from last year and matches the Yankees-Phillies matchup in 2009 for the top-rated World Series in the past 11 years.

Over the last few years, the average World Series game has drawn a TV audience that was comparable to a "Monday Night Football" game. But while the World Series is way up this year, "Monday Night Football's" average audience is down 22%, much like the rest of the NFL.

Roger Goodell is destroying the NFL with his wussifying rule changes and his turning the League into a Leftist organization.

A good many Americans are tired of watching spoiled, rich athletes insult the flag and our country at the same time. This PC, victimization crap has gone on long enough, and people are fed up with it. You can’t watch movies and now sports without someone politicizing it!

Roger Goodall needs to be “Drawn and Quartered”.
What he did to Tom Brady is Persecution.
The NE Patriots are America’s MOST Patriotic Team.
The NFL is a bunch of pansisfied Pussies,
the Peter Principle on Steroids.

All of you envious Fans who have been “programmed” to hate,
Well, Alrighty then, Let’s just see.

It is 100% on Goodells head. He didn’t reign it in. He encourages the PC NFL crap fest. He needs to go as do some of the players. I do not watch football anymore. Take that.

Yes, Goodell is a large part of the decline, with his capricious disciplinary actions and general piggish actions when it comes to the NFL “brand”. That said, I’d be willing to bet that some of the decline in ratings has something to do with the “compelling” games that they are foisting on national TV.

For example, tonight’s Tennessee-Jacksonville game was a real nail biter for maybe the first 5 minutes. Plus, I doubt either team’s fan base extends more than about 50 miles outside their home field.

And, in two weeks, we get the “epic” battle between the Cleveland Neverweres and the Baltimore Nevermores. Going into this weekend, the teams are a combined 3-11. I’m sure this will draw big crowds... NOT!

Well put.

Summarized my thoughts. I will boycott until players stand for the National Anthem.

The sjw-nfl has nowhere to hide now.

I wonder if the NBA/NHL ratings are rising along with post-season MLB.

May the nfl die of cancer in it’s descending colin krapperdick.

If the NHL’s ratings go up significantly, Goodell is finished.

NFL is harming itself to be sure but to be totally fair with a historic moment of the Cubs finally having a chance to win the World Series in over a hundred years....that storyline will have many watching even if they are not Cubs fans

Screw the league and ESPN. I haven’t watched a minute or spent a dime.

They set the mark. They picked wrong.

Roger Goodell is destroying the NFL ...

...

Up to this point he could do what he wanted because he was bringing in huge amounts of money. Perhaps the owner’s will now discover he was selling out the soul and future of the NFL.

Anybody know how much Krapernick’s little temper tantrum is costing the NFL?

I have been disgusted with NFL since Limbaugh was denied part ownership of the team. There was no reason for that whatsoever, except he is a conservative.

This is just icing on that nasty cake.

(If this posts twice, blame telkomsel.)
