Not until mugged by reality.

The brain damage is too deep.

Some do. I know exactly what you are talking about. But, there are some who will engage and thoughtful dialogue. I know those people, too .

In fast-growing evangelical churches you’ll find Obama bumper stickers. That upsets people, but its actually a good thing.

Because when people get saved, as I say, their politics don’t change immediately... but over time they do change. If a church is making inroads and converting people you will see Obama stickers.

Now, you’ll also see them at old dying mainline churches, but that doesn’t count. Those people aren’t changing and those churches are dying anyway.

I tend to call their bluff. I get so many liberals who argue with me that I need more compassion for the poor...that people on welfare need our help...blah, blah, blah. I try to point out that I don’t feel that way...that if you draw any form of public assistance, you need to show up at 7AM at a public place, wash floors, clean toilets, wash windows...whatever needs to be done. I don’t think the gov’t should give my money away buying cell phones for deadbeats, but most liberals counter with we need more money to give to people. So I say: If you truly believe that, get your check book, write a check for $1000 and let’s go to the local IRS office and donate it to them. When they refuse, I point out they are a token liberal who won’t pay for what they profess to believe and if that’s the case, don’t ask the gov’t to pass laws that force me to do what you won’t do voluntarily.

Treat them like you would any adult in an arms-length transaction. They have to come to their beliefs on their own. Do not deal with them on their terms. Walk away if the deal is not good for you.

Can't win them over, I have tried. They all suffer from terminal hemorrhoids. The only solution is to insert an M-80 into the rear end and detonate. Sorry for being crass but I have been working on hardcore Liberals for many years, no reason and logic work.

[How do you convert a liberal?]

Prayer. Liberals are in bondage to invisible principalities and powers of darkness.

There is a general misunderstanding that the opposite irrational is rational. That is not true. The irrational (the average leftist) believes a world view that is internally logical - the fact that the logic does not work in the real world is irrelevant to them. They use circular argument based upon ideology.

It is analogous to dealing with the insane. The crazy man believes everyone else to be crazy - never himself. To the leftist anything that disproved their ideology is wrong because the ideology is always right.

The opposite unreason is not reason but force. Force does not necesarrily mean violence but sometimes it does.

Whenever they are faced to deal with the reality their ideology creates, its often the end of their liberal ways.

If you find one that will listen, and that’s the tough thing to find in and of itself, its usually very easy to convince them that their world view has some pretty big holes in it.

Ha! You might also tell them that since Lyndon Johnson we have spent $19 trillion on anti-poverty programs. Then ask them if they know the size of the national debt: $19 trillion.

I agree. It is a spiritual journey from the dark into the Light.
Their delusions are faith based: “communism is grand”, “there is no radical islam”, “abortion is not murder”.....Ideas which ignore history and fact.
Our job is to pray for them and to be rock solid.

The mugging only has a chance to work if it is not a shared misery. Insurance premiums go up for all and they see it as a righteous burden. When the misery is personal, they sometimes look at their own behaviors and attitudes, but never when everyone else shares the same fate.
