Interesting. I don’t remember that. The image that I remember is Sissy Spacek’s character turning from a mouse into a monster of sorts, chewing bubble gum and relishing firing that gun.
Criterion issued it in a Blu-Ray, so I’d like to see it again someday. Same with NASHVILLE. Altman made some interesting movies.
Yeah, but angels come in many forms. Sometimes someone can reach another when others cannot.
I’m not saying that he is one, but you never know.
I hope that he doesn’t exploit her either. That’s the wrong thing to do.
A lot of celebs were on the fringes of society in their home town and the industry itself is the fringes of society. The thing is, that the divorce from reality occurs when they stop being pragmatic and think their success entitles them to a special insight as to how reality works. You see this in entrepreneurs (Mark Zuckerberg in particular) who succeed too.
i think there is a lot more to it than that. I grew up in Palm Springs on “The Canyon” (meaning I and my family all had careers that dealt with celebrities) and I know a lot of ‘has been’ stars, they aren’t this bad. You feel sorry for them but in a different way. I think she always had this issue (and Kubrick exploited it) but once the fame faded she lost her support group and handlers and the illness got out of control.

Prayers she gets the help that she needs.
