“All those years in college haven’t turned out like you planned. the things that you call knowledge I don’t understand...”
Great lyrics.

I remember reading some where that the guitar solo was Jimmy Page’s favorite.

Your lyrics are great, but they're not Steely Dan's lyrics.
You been tellin' me you're a genius
Since you were seventeen
In all the time I've known you
I still don't know what you mean
The weekend at the college
Didn't turn out like you planned
The things that pass for knowledge
I can't understand

I don't know who played guitar on this track, but one thing you had to hand to Fagen and Becker - they'd get some of the finest session musicians ever for their albums. Some of Larry Carlton's best work is featured on "The Royal Scam" and they even managed to get Wayne Shorter to play on "Aja". That plus their studio perfectionism have kept "Katy Lied" through "Gaucho" on my turntable/CD player/RAID array for decades now.

Going off of memory. I just turned 50, it’s a mess in there sometimes.

Guitarist on reelin intro: Denny Diaz.
Steely Dan was started by Denny Diaz - a smokin hot picker who was looking to fuse jazz and rock.

"never goin back to Annendale" was a lyric in one of thier songs. Sort of. You refer to "My Old School":
I remember the thirty-five sweet goodbyes
When you put me on the Wolverine
Up to Annandale
Well I did not think the girl
Could be so cruel
And I'm never going back
To my old school

"Lol, is that cousin It at the control board ; )" If you're talking about that disembodied hand, you must mean "Thing." Cousin Itt was the little guy in the bowler and sunglasses covered with hair,
