My Wife and I eloped. It was wonderful.

My Wife’s Sister (a nut job Minnesotan LIBERAL) still complains that she was not invited to the wedding - She still does not, after 25+ years understand that there was no wedding.

She was one of many good reasons we chose to elope.

Well, 25+ years and a liberal just proves that you can’t fix stupid.

We didn't exactly elope, as our daughter had been borne 9 months prior to that. We were married by a JP in Florida prior to a cruise to the Bahamas. It was just us, my family lived in California and Oregon, and her large family lived in El Paso.

A big wedding was never in the cards, I didn't want to put that on my FIL...he had 7 daughters and busted his butt raising 10 kids. My wife didn't want a big wedding either. We were married by the church about 20 years ago, when I converted to Catholicism.

No regrets, though I think it's better for children to arrive after a couple of years of marriage. It's truly life changing to become a parent, but it can put a strain on relationships.
