There is a movement among the parents of Down's children to excise the word "retarded" from the language.

Until the child is old enough to realize he or she is “different” and the other kids start giving them a hard time. Kids can be very cruel. Why give them the idea that ridicule and mean tricks is acceptable by selling crap like those mugs? There’s a big difference between being PC and showing kindness and caring.
