“My aunt still has a TR6 that she bought new.”
I’d love to have one. Wife wants an old Beetle, she’ll probably win out.
I don’t see her giving up the TR6.
I’m 99 percent sure she still has it.
My unfriendly 65 Willys jeep is enough entertainment.
Guaranteed that the Beetle will be less of a headache. That was my first car, and it was as reliable as the sun coming up every morning. Perfect maintenance free, for the most part, easy to fix dependable car, good on gas.
I passed one on the highway Saturday. Surprising. He was in the slow lane where he belonged. I commented to my wife that it looked like a death trap by modern standards.

My dad kept one as a second car when I was growing up. Think it was about a 1960 model or there abouts, while a simple and durable car it required lots of frequent maintainence; plugs and points, brake adjustments, valve train adjustments, Heater and defroster never worked right, graphite throw-out bearing wore quickly. So, be prepared to spend about one weekend per month tinkering around on this car. Good luck!
