Well then, I call bulls*t.

My barber (retired Navy) and my wife (retired Air Force) both DO NOT qualify for ANY VA care, free or otherwise, because they make too much money.

I receive VA care with a co-pay for prescriptions and visits. But if my income was any higher, they would cut me off as well.

And saying you "don't believe dental care is provided at all" is not fact. It is your belief. Dental care is provided for some combat vets with service-connected disabilities. I have two friends who get their dental work done at the VA.

If they're retired, don't they have a separate h/c plan?
My family income is WELL above the VA max ($41.7k) yet I still qualified for Group 8 with co-pay.
Nowhere can I find a disclaimer that says a vet can't get health care as long as they agree to a co-pay.

He’s dead, so I can’t ask him.

After he died, I had to settle his estate.

He wasn’t making much money. He had social security and a small pension from his civilian job.

It wasn’t enough for the VA to worry about.

He led patrols forward of the friendly lines in the Korean War.

I suspect he felt that the VA owed him a blood test.

My wife and I were both receiving VA healthcare after we retired in 2011. After the VA ran their annual means testing audit of eligibility in 2013, my wife received a letter telling her that their original assessment that she was eligible for VA care was made in error because her income exceeded the maximum income allowed to receive care and that she was no longer qualified. We protested their decision but the denial remained. My own letter said I remained eligible for Group 8 with co-pays. My wife went on Medicare when she turned 65 after going a year without medical coverage after receiving the denial letter. She has no other healthcare plan.

So unless you are calling me a liar or want to see a copy of the letter denying her VA benefits, stop trying to tell me what I am saying is not true. It is as I relate it.

Well, you made it one by challenging every point I've made. What did you expect me to do, just lay down and play dead just because you said what I was claiming wasn't so?

You can spend all the time you want trying to figure out what happen but my wife and I have moved on from this issue in 2013 but let me give you a clue. There are also income limits, varying with the number of dependents, for Group 8 co-pays as well.

You're original statement about VA dental care was "...I don't believe dental care is covered at all..." when now you're claiming "it's quite restrictive, just as I thought". You're being duplicitous by claiming one thing previously and now claiming something different, all the while acting like you had it right from the start, which you didn't. So who's pissing on who?
