I have some severe doubts about their “holiday”. When the North Rim closes during the first week or so of October there are warning signs everywhere. Roads are blocked off and marked with signs.
I know from personal experience from travel there at the end of Sept. a few years ago. We stayed a day and left with the snowstorm following us down and out.

Driscoll said the main highway in the Canyons north rim, State Route 67, was closed due to the snow in the area, which is about 8,000 feet above sea level. The family, he said, was looking for an alternate road and found Forest Road 22 one of the few available alternate routes.
If the state route was closed, why did they think some alternate Forest Road would be open ?
