I’ve never understood the Romo bashing. Until 2014 he never had a O-Line and the defense was terrible. The 8-8 years would have been 3-13 at best without him. His defenses could never hold a lead. How do you put up 45 points and lose. Romo is an elite QB.

You are correct! Romo is not only an elite QB, but an over-acheiver, which should grant him more validity and respect.

Completely agree on how good he was, and that the defenses were bad. Still, there is that “something” that you can’t get around and that is that Dak just “has it.” The whole team just plays better.

I liken Romo to a more hard-luck version of a Marino or Fran Tarkenton, who were great QBs who could never win it all. But I liken Dak to a Bart Starr or Bob Griese, QBs less known for their arms than for just winning as generals.

In Romo’s best season, he couldn’t come close to 23/4 TD to INT ration Dak has had. Tony could always be counted on to deliver one or two astounding plays (like when he shook off JJ Watt for a bomb TD) and one or two killer turnovers. Some of the losses just weren’t his fault (think the Giants playoff game where a slot receiver dropped a wide open 1st down pass that would have given Dallas a FG). But he reminds me in some ways of Craig Morton, another great thrower for Dallas who just had bad luck (the INTs in the Super Bowl). If I was giving Romo advice, I’d say, Retire a Cowboy, go into the Ring of Honor, become a coach or sportscaster and enjoy your life.
