Jersey, huh?
Which exit?
Moved to Norwood (last house on the right on Beacon Ave.) from Springfield two weeks after the Blizzard of '78 while finishing up Grad School. People would talk about the mall on US1 in Norwood (now torn down I think...) and we did not know it was there for weeks due to the absolute mountain of snow piled up blocking the view from the street (and trapping many cars underneath). We also did not know there was a giagantic rock in our back yard of this rental home until weeks later. That piled-up snow in our yard lasted until May.
MrsProv1322 just recreated "The Big Apple Pancake" this morning like we used to enjoy at Bickford's on US1 in Sharon...I understand that is gone also.
We now return you to the Official Laz FR Countdown Page...
91. Formerly 15W off the Turnpike.
You are probably talking about the Walpole Mall right up the street on RT 1.
Still there but half of the indoor “mall” is gone now.
The 2 anchor store engulfed it.
Not quite the same anymore.
Same happened to my home town Dedham Mall a few miles in the opposite direction.
The inside “Mall” part is gone now.
Probably due to the effect of putting a bus stop in the parking lot back in the 80’s and the people that it attracted.
Dedham Mall if i remember was one of America’s first malls.
Sad...
Now i gotta go out and shovel.....ugh
Nice area. NJTP9 myself
So your in the Jamesburg area?
That Bickfords in sharon is now a large Irish Bar/Restaurant called McMorgans.
got a pretty cool outdoor bar and seating area.
The view ain’t that great being Rt 1 and all though...The high tension power lines don’t help.
Yeah, saw that via Google Maps/Street View. Our time in Norwood/Sharon goes back a few years to 78-83 when we left New England for the Caribbean.
And I remember the Dedham Mall being a big deal in those days! Another nugget from our former Philly stompin-grounds...
"The Cherry Hill (NJ) Mall... was the first enclosed, air-conditioned shopping center in the Northeast. At about 1 million square feet, it was the largest of its kind in the world when it opened. Now in the midst of a multiyear renovation, it remains a viable retail center. But when it opened, it was a space-age phenomenon."
I also remember Dedham Circle being a nightmare. Had a co-worker/friend whose father was the main engineer for that bit of driving travesty...
By Dedham Circle you must be talking about that large rotary next to the mall, next to the old Child World.
A rotary with RT 1 converging with Washington St heading into Boston with that main st from Dedham Square added into the mix.
Yea it is a traffic nightmare.
Back around ‘78 you probably remember the large neon AMACO sign there.
I think it was Amaco, anyways it’s now a small office building converted from a old tune-up business.
Caribbean huh?
Just spent the last 2 hours trying to get my snowblower running, started for 10 seconds, then again for about 5 seconds then nothing.....ARGH!!!!
Thing has driven me crazy for years.
Tried all my usual TRICKS.....NO LUCK
Looks like some serous shoveling tomorrow, i’d rather shovel the parking lot of the Dedham mall than my driveway.
Looking for a roommate?
All I could find was Sears, and Radio Shack. The entrances were all very confusing. The Mall had essentially shut down and nobody told me.
It took me about 25 minutes to drive to Rte. 128 after that.
I avoid the area like the Plague ever since. The new Legacy Place up the street is a sorry place with poorly designed traffic routes and horrible egress.
I Avoid both places now.
Legacy place used to be a giant Showcase Cinema....My first job.
I worked out in the parking lot in the FREEZING cold.
Sumner Redstone managed to be able to pay me far less than minimum wage due to my age.
I was 15.
The perks were free popcorn and movies.
Saw the movie 48 Hrs at least 48 times, it played for months and was at the farthest theater closet to the parking lot and i used to sneak in there to get warm.
Ahhh. the good old days......saw a lot of great early 80’s movies working there.
Growing up the mall was a real cool old style mall, had a lot of cool stores, that bookstore being one of them.
Putting the bus stop out back proved to be the downfall.
HA! You'd a loved it! We were in Haiti!
We have been in GreenAcres (55 miles NW of ATL) for the past 11 years after 20 years in Florida. Checked before dark and our nicely asphalted roads in these Appalachian foothills are still iced-in with temps not going above freezing all day, so no roaming about until tomorrow afternoon.
Around 1990 me and my buddy’s from UMass took a road trip to Myrtle Beach for Spring Break.
The place was desolate and COLD and one friend after a day or two of nagging convinced me to travel on to Panama City Beach to hook up with a girl he knew.
He told me that he plotted the ultimate route that would save us a ton of time.
Anyways we drove through Georgia almost completely through back roads.
Being from MA i thought i was on a different planet.
Macon county etc..
Saw some beautiful landscape, never ending fields driving down roads surrounded by trees like driving through a tunnel, small towns and a such a different way of life than i was used too.
Anyways it was NOT a shortcut at all, took us many hours to get to the Panhandle.
My second Spring Break at PC and i basically spent it alone.
Turned out that i should stayed in Myrtle Beach....
I don’t know if the site above gets money for clicks, but they are definitely making buck$ from me if they are.... counting the seconds lol
Oh, zero is definitely planning on being a thorn in Trump’s side. Every time that Trump does something, the MSM will place a microphone in zero’s face to get his opinion. zero will undermine Trump at every turn, every chance, every avenue that he has at his disposal. And the MSM will give zero every opportunity to attack Trump.
Hussein will be in the media and getting his ass kissed like never before.
hope his records somehow gets unsealed to shut him up for good.
LOL Something like that.
I want on your ping list please, Laz.
