Let’s face it. The product the NFL is throwing out on the field isn’t as good as it was in the past regardless of the major injuries to some of the playoff teams like the Lions, Raiders, and Dolphins. For the first time in a long time I find myself bored watching the NFL.
...And the games were over by 6pm.
I always like watching the Pack win!
Of course, eventually they kill golden goose, but that's life - the pattern is constantly repeated because each generation needs to re-learn the same life-lessons. General Motors is an excellent example of this principle.
I turned on each game, put it on mute, and then went about my business ie errands, yardwork, etc. Periodically, I'd check in to see if anything interesting was happening. Nope - except, as AC mentioned, the 3rd Q of the Packers-Giants game.
The reason is obvious, which is entire point of the article. But, as any "car guy" can tell you, it didn't matter if you could see what was occurring to GM 20 years before its crash. The NFL will continue down this path of over saturation until its product also crashes. That's just the way these things go.
The Packers/Giants game had an ad for amazon, where a Muslim Cleric and a Christian Pastor type met up. I was unsure about that.
As with all sports, there are way too many teams in the post-season.
And Stafford was probably at 70% with his injury.
Detroit actually has a white running back.
IMHO BUMP! Thanks.
I strongly disagree with that kind of analysis, day 1, Thursday is one of the best days of March Madness NCAAB;
There have been plenty of upsets. Even in a good NFL year, March Madness day 1 gives them a run for their money imo.
What was missing is that usually 2 of the 4 games will be very competitive; usually half in some years are upsets. Not this year.
That Manning fumble where he was trying to pass really ruined the game. Giants were down but not totally out. Close to it though, maybe 16 down.
Be fair, it was a different time, when players actually had to work in the off-season. Now there are literally millions of dollars at stake.
People whine too much. This year the division winning teams were better than the wild card teams and all won easily. So people whine. Some year a really crappy team lucks into a division win, then loses to their wild card matchup, and people whine about bad teams getting home playoff games. Pick a path people, do you want the regular season ranking system to work (this year) or not work (previous 2 or 3 years)? It’s gotta be one of those.
You obviously didn’t watch the Steeler game.
I fell asleep for at least an hour’s nap on Sat afternoon and evening watching both games and again yesterday with the afternoon game, I can’t even remember who played that one...lol
most boring wild card weekend ever...
I was at a place where the Green Bay game was on.... anyone else see that Amazon.com commercial where the mullah and the priest were coffee drinking buddies who ended up buying each other a knee brace as a gift?
Amazon bringing Muslims and Christians together! Hurl.
I saw that. They bought knee pads for each other (through AMZ, natch) to facilitate prayer. AMZ left out the part where the Muzzie decapitates in Catholic in gratitude.
Typical Co-Exist Crap.
Only time you see players putting career first is if their team stinks, are out of the playoffs, and the guy is up for free agency. Which is really on the team for being so bad they have players desperate to leave. for the most part you see players make career negative decisions to get back on the field.
As for college players sitting that’s what happens when they don’t get paid. Funny part is it probably will drop their draft stock and help them have better careers. One of the best things that can happen to a player is NOT being a top 10 pick, teams that pick in the top 10 usually stink and give players little chance to shine (worse is teams that give away a bunch of draft picks to move up). Sliding down a little lets you get picked by good teams that will do something with the player.
Yeah, the upper channels are pretty much all religious/Spanish/Mexican/Korean/Chinese/Shopping/etc
