When the Lights Go On Again...
Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn? -PF
Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn?
Remember how she said that “we would meet again some sunny day?”
Vera Lynn is a most amazing person, a true patriot. In 2000 a poll picked her as the Briton who best exemplified the spirit of the 20th century. I would have given that honor to Churchill, but Vera would have been a close second!
I had no idea she was still alive, thanks for posting.
Vera Lynn’s ‘(There’ll Be Bluebirds Over) The White Cliffs of Dover’. This song was released in 1942, when the war was far from won. Yet this song confidently predicts that the war WILL be won.

And thanks, gasport, for the original post!
Hollywood Square Dance (1949)
Another historic singer that started her career singing in a subway during an air raid in London during WW2 was Petula Clark, who at 84 now still has sold out concerts and albums, she did her first music video last year “Sacrifice my heart”
One of her best and there is quite a few in recent years is my favorite from 2014, “Cut, copy me”.
For the younguns she was made famous for “Downtown”
Bookmark for all the wonderful links.
I wanted some easy listening music yesterday afternoon. I went on youtube and selected Vera Lynn and her WWII era songs. I didn’t realize she was still living. Happy Birthday to her.
Great Britain’s WWII secret weapon. She was worth 10 divisions.
Happy birthday to a lovely lady with a lovely voice, who gave hope to many during dark days.
Vera Lynn turns 102 today.
