Reports Say First Lady 'Not Thrilled' About Moving To Washington (timetable moved post summer)
Hollywood Take ^ | jan 21 2017 ast | By Melissa Siegel

While Melania Trump looked happy at Donald's inauguration, sources say she isn't comfortable with the move to Washington, D.C. She and son Barron are even living in New York for a few months instead of heading to the White House.

As the new President prepares to move to the White House, his wife and youngest son Barron are staying behind in New York City. .

Sources previously told TMZ that Melania doesn't want to uproot Barron in the middle of the school year. And Page Six said that she is "really devoted" to her son, raising him herself instead of hiring nannies.

So she will commute to and from the White House until at least June. And even when summer rolls around, Melania won't be in any rush to move to D.C.

Unlike Michelle Obama, Melania Trump won't move right into the White House "Melania wants to stay in New York while her son goes to school," a source told People. "I don’t know if she will ever live away from New York full time, especially with her son in school there. She loves her home in Manhattan and her independent life."

But it also seems that Melania isn't as comfortable in the political spotlight. After all, she's a foreigner who came from a modeling background. And when she married Donald Trump, she didn't think he'd be running for President.

"She doesn't do very well with these kinds of things," said magazine writer Julia Ioffe, who wrote a GQ profile of Melania last year. "She didn't sign up to be a political wife. She wasn't in favor of Donald Trump running for president. She got behind him because she's the supportive wife, but she was trying to make him think twice, three times, four times before he did it. She wanted to be comfortable, wealthy and out of the spotlight."

In fact, many noted that it was Donald's daughter Ivanka who made most of the appearances during his campaign. Some even referred to Ivanka as Donald's "surrogate spouse" and speculated that she would take on more of the First Lady role.

Donald Trump's campaign may have also caused some tension with his wife. Melania wasn't thrilled to hear Donald's comments on the Access Hollywood tape. While that doesn't mean they are having issues in their relationship, it's another hurdle for them to overcome.

Do you think Donald and Melania Trump are having marriage problems? Let us know your take in the comments section below!

I’m shocked EVERYTHING is now considered fake news.

Some comments on real news have been hysterical :)

It’s not secret she has no desire to live in Washington.

So don’t sigh for me ;)

One thing I read in that bio was that when the two of them met, President Trump wanted her phone number but she refused. She wanted his so she could do the calling on her own time frame. I do not think she was too impressed with him but that soon changed. I think that was one reason he fell for her. She kinda knew who he was but wanted things done her way. He was probably tired of females throwing themselves at him. They wanted a normal life style though on a grand scale. I admire them. I think it was this article which said Barron speaks Slovenia with his grandparents. Is that the right word? They live close to them. They will be a great balance for him. They were at the inauguration.

I’ve never believed that they actually live on that gilded floor of the apartment. I imagine that there’s something much more comfortable and livable upstairs...

I imagine it's the same for the White House. No matter what we might think of it and its iconic image, it's probably slumming for Trump.

Years ago, I took one of those public tours of the White House with my wife and kids. I was appalled at how shabby the craftsmanship looked on the walls and window frames. I take pride in plastering and painting my home, but it looked like it was sloppily done at the White House.

Donald Trump is a perfectionist, and he ensures that any work done on his personal possessions (including his homes, hotels, aircraft and cars) is near perfect. It is a severe downgrade for him to move to the White House (until he can get some remodeling accomplished).

Most here would have flipped out if a dem’s wife lived somewhere else.
= = = = = = = = = = = =
Don’t we REALLY wish that HRC and Mooch would have stayed in Chicago?
We have been ‘complaining’ the last 3 Dem wives have been to involved in the process when they should have STFU.

Now we have a Lady that wants to stay home and take care of her child in comfortable, friendly surroundings, basically saying
‘Donald, you wanted that crazy job, now go do it.’
I will be there when you absolutely NEED me to be there.

Remember not everyone can walk out of her ‘home’, go to the roof and have their own private Jet Chopper whisk her to the South Lawn.

“And when she married Donald Trump, she didn’t think he’d be running for President.”

I question that to some degree. Maybe she didn’t THINK he’d run, but I’d be surprised if she didn’t know it was a possibility. It’s been in his mind for two or three decades. Hard to believe it never came up in all the years they dated.

I hope she finds it in her heart to move to the White House and become involved. At first I wasn’t very impressed with her, but have had a 100% change of heart. After observing her the last few days I think she could be his greatest asset.

It’s a small thing, but in the Saturday church service I was impressed with what she did after the girl sang, “How Great Thou Art”. The camera shot was from the back of the church, and it looked to me like Melania was the first person to stand, initiating the standing ovation. It’s like she’s already taken on a leadership role.

And her calm, strong, classy demeanor softens his rough edges.

Being so hands-on raising Barron is good and there must be ways to continue that in the White House. DJT needs her and so does the country.

First of all, that is the sign of a good woman. As for the point about Melania being upset about hearing access Hollywood video...Fake News! She knows Donald! Listen to the Howard Stern Show when he spoke about Trump. It’s clear that she knows he’s a fun lover

Oh, it is no secret she does not want to live in DC.

The junk was the innuendo of marital strife between Ms. Trump and President Trump. The article is chock full of it — and it IS FAKE NEWS.

Yeh....Michelle kinda made an a** of herself with the garden and the whole food gig.

First of all....she only showed up for garden photo ops.

Then there's the fact that the ground was full of toxins.

Then there's the fact that you're taking a job away from a real farmer.

The whole thing is stupid. Rip it out and put in a putting green....or two.

They have their own security team. People are making too big a deal out of this. I admire them. Just look where norms and rules got us the last 8 years. The Trumps are smart enough to know what is best for their son and them. We do not need to second guess them.

The White House is a step down for the Trumps. Washington is still something of a sleepy town, especially compared to NYC. It’s lights out by 10pm usually. Streets rolled up by midnight.

She will lose her ability to just go out and walk Barron to school (she already has to do that with SS). It’s not going to be an easy adjustment. I hope they figure out a way to accommodate all these conflicting interests.

What a cutie!

His world has been turned upside down. Yes, he was born into wealth, but he is still a child.

Melania seems like a great mother and I no doubt that she and Donald decided on this together.

Noticed the same thing when I took a White House tour a couple decades ago. Was surprising.

Agree with the rest of your comment, too.

(Ironically, their mock-up of the White House at the GW Bush presidential museum at Baylor has FAR superior workmanship.)
