I toured it when JFK was still there. I believe they stopped tours after 9/11, and don’t know if they started them up again.
One thing that may surprise is that it’s small. The basic house was built for its original times.
I'm told Mt. Vernon is small too; that in the kitchen, Washington could have stood on one foot and touched the ceiling with the other foot.
In fairness my mom had an unusual upbringing, and until she actually earned a Girl Scout badge, she assumed from the images she'd seen that they were made of solid gold.
I was taught, "you want to be pleasantly surprised, go to the library." And so far this has been pretty good advice.
