Next stop, Necker Island: Barack and Michelle Obama are all smiles as they arrive in the British Virgin Islands on Richard Branson’s private jet and head straight for his lavish private island retreat
No surprise here - freeloader lifestyle continues.....
Notice how they bunk with friends when it is on their dime.
Found this comment interesting of where the Obama’s were staying - a mansion owned by a gay couple. (explains a lot)
Swank digs: Barack and Michelle were staying at the mansion of his Spanish ambassador James Costos and his husband, interior designer Michael Smith, in Rancho Mirage; The couple’s 11,000-sq-ft home was featured in an issue of Architectural Digest back in 2015 (pool above)
About 50 years ago when I was sailing in that area, I decided to get inside the Necker Island reef and anchor up. Very few people would go in there as it was tricky because you had to dodge coral heads.
We spent a great day there swimming snorkeling picnicking etc.
I had been warned about anchoring up there overnight.
We sailed out and anchored up in a common anchorage not too far away.
The next day while sailing by Necker we could see why there was danger - a big African swell had come in overnight and went over the reef into the anchorage and it was a horror show for any boat that would have anchored up.
I couldn't imagine being there in the dark and trying to get out without hitting a coral head in the darkness.
A great choice by Branson for a Caribbean Island just moor your boats on the other more protected side. - Tom
I thought the same thing. What happened in Palm Springs? He only spent the weekend there? What a waste of government money to fly the jumbo jet to California just for a three day vacation.
So far, Obama hasn't spent a dime of his own money.
