Mr. Toto snubbed "We Were Soldiers".

My opinion only, but add “Signs” to the list. Absolutely loved it!

‘Signs’ for sure! And, ‘The Patriot.’ I rarely watch movies more than once, but I have seen each of those a few times.

‘Signs’ just freaked me out. M. Night Shamalamading-dong has a new movie out, I hear!

Hard to limit it to just 5 for me. However I will try.

5. Braveheart
4. Payback
3. Passion of The Christ
1. We Were Solders (tied for first)
1. Mad Max: The Road Warrior

“The Patriot” was okay as a generic portrayal, but it was a horrible movie in terms of historical and technical accuracy.

Apocalypto was a brilliantly directed movie. Not a word of english dialogue but it didn’t need it and kept you on the edge of your seat.

I don’t mean to be picky. The list is restricted to five and it’s difficult to compare Mad Max or Lethal Weapon to movies such as Braveheart.

I have no problem with any of the movies mentioned thus far on this thread. Gibson has an had an interesting career, with a nice mix of historical interpretation, (pure) action/adventure and and odd comedy.

As for Signs, it was the fourth (major) M. Knight Shyamaian movie, his fourth best, and his last good one.

In the category of worth watching are Gibson’s version of Mutiny on the Bounty. This is a fine interpretation of the event.

Also Conspiracy Theory. An odd but endearing movie.

In the category of unwatchable is Gibson’s Hamlet. The man should have every copy of this movie burned. It is dreadful.

The has at least two movies (Lethal Weapon and Road Warror) starring, but not directed by, Gibson.

I actually consider that a better “Christmas Movie” than “Die Hard.”

Well, of course they forgave him.

They might as well have entitled the movie Heroes Don’t Need Guns.

My favorite Mel Gibson movie is The Man Without A Face.

Gibson is an extremely handsome man and he hid that in this movie.

Gutsy.

Apocalypto was great. Very graphic though.

I agree completely. Apocalypto made me feel like I was the one being chased. There were scenes when I was on the edge of my seat with my heart in my throat.

I thought the use of many native actors and the lack of English dialog to be a great move. It allowed me to take in the emotion in their performance without distraction.

I love Payback!

William Devane and Kris Kristofferson were classic and the 70’s feel to the movie completes it.
