Great show! "Mannix" is currently airing on MeTV in the wee hours of the morning - 1AM MST. I DVR it and watch it on the weekends.

BTW, in the first season (running right now), he worked for a (then) futuristic detective agency called Intertech. His "boss" was a character played by the actor Joseph Campanella.

Re: Perry Mason - my dad was a prosecutor. We always watched Perry Mason when I was a child and it confused me, because PM was the good guy and the prosecutor always had egg on his face at the end. I asked my mom one time if my dad lost all his cases.

Had a boyfriend that looked just like him. He was a P.I. and “carried” as I found out.

What I remember is the number of episodes in which he would be pistol whipped across the back of the head, be knocked out momentarily, then spend a couple of minutes rubbing his head and looking pained, but then be back in action. Getting hit on the head that many times with a pistol would have meant stage 4 Alzheimer’s by season 3. It was a great show, I watched a lot of it, but only remember him driving the Oldsmobile Coronado and the Dodge Dart.

He played basketball for John Wooden at UCLA.

Mannix was pistol whipped in every show. As a kid I would yell, “Mannix don’t walk down that dark path.” But Mannix would always walk down that dark path with his very small pistol out, in front of him about belt high. Then bam! Someone behind him would pistol whip him and Mannix would be left on the ground, out cold. Break for commercial. Then the scene would open again, the police would be there, Mannix would be nursing a bad headache with a bump. He would say something like, “I guess I was getting too close to the answers of this crime.” But Joe was not thwarted in any way. He was back on the case. A little pistol whipping was not going to stop Joe Mannix. We know that because it happened every show.

Mannix is on at 1am Central time on MeTV. I just watched one last night and meant to look up Mike Conners to see if he was still alive.

He’s Armenian, right?

Yes. He's one we'll claim. The Kardashians, not so much.

"...the prosecutor always had egg on his face at the end."

LOL, I always kinda felt sorry for Hamilton ("I object, your honor!") Burger.

Della, on the other hand, was one gorgeous dame. :)

He was a handsome character.

Ever notice how many Armenians have black hair and blue eyes?

When I was a teen, I visited the Malibu Civic Center in California for one reason or another.

They were filming an episode of “Mannix” while I was there, and the cast and crew were taking a break.

I remember standing behind Mr. Connors while he was sitting down and playing a game of chess outdoors with a member of the crew.

The thing I’ve always remembered about Mannix was the brush on the cymbals as he was out investigating...”tch-tch-tch-a-ch...tch-tch-tch-a-ch”

That’s a nice memory. It was a big deal when dad got home from work one night and told us about meeting Mr. Connors. His show had been on the air for about a year, so he was quite popular. My dad said said he was the nicest man.

Tarzana. The home of many tv and movie stars. Mannix was a cool show. My brothers and I switched from saying “no way, man,” to saying “no way, mannix,” just to be cool.

Mannix ran for 8 seasons and 1967 to 1975. Nice suits and ties.

I remember his signature move in his car. He’d take off and then spin it 180 and be going the same direction but facing the opposite way. Years later I learned this was accomplished by slamming on and then releasing the parking brake.

I have a converter box attached to some of my television sets here in Maine.

I get a network called “Decades,” and they run all kinds of TV shows from the 1950’s through the 1990’s.

In November, they had “The Cop Show Binge,” and they ran multiple episodes every day of different cop and private eye TV series. One day, they showed multiple episodes of “Mannix.”

This week, they’re running TV shows from the 1980’a.
This weekend, it’s the “Hunter” binge, from 1:00 PM Saturday afternoon nonstop until 7:00 AM Monday morning.

The guy who played Bo Duke and Jonathan Kent really is a great driver. The stunt coordinator for “Smallville” said he could do a 180 as well as anyone.

He had taken lessons at the Bondurant school of high performance driving.
