Oh, I don’t doubt that for a minute out of a steel framed 1911.
I made the sad mistake of thinking I could handle full power Underwood 10mm, as opposed to the downloaded stuff most manufacturers sell (which also may explain your inability to tell the difference...most manufacturers have downloaded the 10mm to .40 specs. You have to check the velocity stats on the box to tell which kind you’re buying), out of a full size Glock 20. I’ve shot the G30 in ,45acp for years.
I shot one magazine through my nice new G20 and immediately took it up to the front desk at the range and used it as a trade on a p320. Best trade I’ve ever made, but only because the Sig is a superior pistol.
The 10mm was so stout, I couldn’t hit the broadside of a barn with it for all the pressure I had to exert to keep it from jumping out of my hand on recoil.
I am somewhat a .45 fanatic because they were so darn effective in the rare times pistols were used. We had our company commander go to take a whiz behind some trees and ran face-to-face with a group of enemy officers. He already had the .45 in his hand and he and a lieutenant that had followed him killed all of them only taking one round of 9mm Makarov through his upper inside thigh. I'm still in touch with him, so he survived a five-on-two gunfight.
We do all sorts of fiddling around with calibers new and old and the latest in wild, accessory-equipped wonder weapons but old Mister Colt from 106 years ago will still fire when you need it to and kill reliably - trust me.
Your firearms sound wonderful - and I'd be envious if I didn't have a fine assortment myself.. My bias towards the .45 is based on its effectiveness and reliability and one-shot finality. If I should by some wild improbable chance ever be committed to fight again, my pistol will be a 1911A1. I could fight just fine with a 9mm but I would prefer the big hoss.
Daddy actually got the Luger from a German kid he was feeding in Berlin after the war ended. He would go through the chow line once for himself and again for Fritz and Ingrid who were Brother and Sister.
One day he asked Fritz if he could get him a Luger and the kid took off running. An hour or so later he brought Daddy a sack which held a Luger, holster and spare mag. They had been buried and still had dirt on them.
He sold the Luger to his Cousin who was the Florida golden gloves champion. At Daddy’s funeral he told me that he once complained to my Father that it was not very accurate. He said Daddy took it and immediately shot a one hole group at 25 feet. On his separation documents I noticed it was a DWM 1917 model.

That was very nice of him to feed those kids. Oddly - if I hadn’t lost in a tragic boating accident - I have, I mean had a 1917 DWM too. And a 1906 American Eagle in 9mm as well (with the extractor marked “loaded” in English).

The 5.7x28mm is rather extensively investigated online. The "sporting" round is a 40 grain Hornady V-Max bullet. No doubt you will recognize the pedigree of this varmint bullet.
The rest of the lineup, ss192, 195, and 198, are non-deforming hollow points with the center of gravity way in the back. The hollow point is not for expansion, but to more reliably initiate the "tumble" roughly 2-3 inches inside the target.
The one thing the 5.7 round does NOT do, is act like an icepick in any non-hardened medium.
I wonder how they did, where they are now if they made it.

I've been cc'ing my wife's Taurus 709 9mm lately, but I would really rather carry my SW40VE. Problem is IWB holsters, printing, and comfort.

Handguns are pretty much tits on the military boar. If it were up to me, the officers and NCOs could bring their own if they wished. Only an enthusiast is likely to use one effectively anyway, so why not cater to the whims of the enthusiast?
I know what I’d choose, but that’s just me.
RE: Let me assure you, from expensive experience, there will be
NO mistaking a 10mm Glock for ANYTHING in .45.
I owned first a Glock 21 and then just bought the slide and barrel and much heavier spring for the G20 the frames are identical you can swap between the two in 45 seconds or so, you need dedicated 10mm mags too. I also agree there is no mistaking a 45acp in a Glock vs a full pressure 10mm round.The 10mm has more than doubled the muzzle energy.
It is equivalent to a 41 magnum revolver round and completely out of the class of a 45acp. I carry mine as a side arm when I feral hog hunt instead of my 44mag revolver since 13+1 > 6 when a pack of hogs has you up a tree and your AR10 in 7.62x55mm is on the ground where you left it climbing up said tree...true story ferals are mean critters.
