Sears, Kmart drop 31 Trump Home items from their online shops

Major U.S. retailers Sears and Kmart this week removed 31 Trump Home items from their online product offerings to focus on more profitable items, a spokesman said on Saturday.

The decision follows retailer Nordstrom Inc's announcement this week it had decided to stop carrying Ivanka Trump's apparel because of declining sales, prompting President Donald Trump to take to Twitter to defend his daughter. White House spokesman Sean Spicer characterized the Nordstrom move as a "direct attack" on the president's policies.

Neither Sears nor Kmart carried the Trump Home products in their retail stores, a Sears Holdings Corp spokesman said. Kmart is a wholly owned subsidiary of Sears Holdings.

"As part of the company’s initiative to optimize its online product assortment, we constantly refine that assortment to focus on our most profitable items," spokesman Brian Hanover said in a statement.

"Amid that streamlining effort, 31 Trump Home items were among the items removed online this week," he said, adding those items can be found through a third-party vendor, without providing additional information about the products.

The Trump Home collection includes lines of furniture, lighting, bedding, mirrors and chandeliers, some from makers who supply the items to Trump hotels, according to the collection's website.

Nordstrom's sales of Ivanka Trump's line of clothing and shoes fell by nearly one-third in the past fiscal year, with sharp drops in sales weeks before her father was elected president on Nov. 8, the Wall Street Journal reported on Saturday.

The Trumps just need to set up their own online site. Would make another fortune.

As a competitor to Amazon.

I'd join in a heartbeat and dump Amazon so fast their heads would spin.

I remember the Kmart in my hometown on the Jersey Shore New Jersey actually sold firearms and bowling balls and you can have your bowling ball size to your fingers.

I’m in my early forties that I used to love to go to Kmart with my mom and go over the Sporting Goods section.

They used to have all the shotguns ammunition fishing stuff.

When I go to the Walmart here in Marietta in the the Sporting Goods section reminds me of the Kmart in 1980.

So happy I live in Georgia.

I can identify your Nostalgia I think.

So true. Even if you must hire from a low to lower-middle class neighborhood, you are likely to see different gradations of personality, skill and positive attitude.
Those with the right personality or attitude can be taught skills to some workable level. Some of these single mothers are serious about working, and very motivated to earn their money.

A great deal depends on selecting the right Manager for such places. The Manager often sets the tone and is an authority or parental figure. If the Manager skates, openly lies about punching in, curses our co-workers in public, leaves stuff undone for the next shift, or is rude to certain races of customers, that will immediately get noticed and imitated.

I worked for Sears for several years after high school and surrounding my military effort. It was fun and I met and knew some fantastic people.

Along the way, the Sears puppeteers became a little arrogant. They caused Sears to start driving a bumpy road.

Any marketer worth $0.17 per hour could see that, today, you could get customers to stand in line by marketing Ivanka Trump using 1% of the marketing intelligence gifts granted by God. Along the way they might even save Sears by selling a thing or two in the same store, even a virtual store.

I thought for some time it would be sad the day Sears had to close the door for good. If senior management is this stupid, it will be best for the United States when Sears has to board up the windows.

KMart and Sears are both on life support anyway.

In my area here in Maine, both KMart and Macy’s are closing their stores.

Who cares.

Life was normal. I am a bit older but not much. 52

I saw that box at 13 and had no idea what it was. My Dad had passed some 8 months earlier. My Mom was the greatest.

I opened up that package that had a real firearm that was MINE for Christmas.

It was quite a moment for me.

NO justification. Online “space” costs absolutely NOTHING, unlike limited floor space. This decision is 100% political.

Dean,
I’ve never heard of Royal King. Ace’s fastener department pales in comparison to Sears, But right next to the Ace is a fastener distributor. But they deal with industry, and I hate to bother them. They’re my last resort. I never need any sort of quantity,

Ace’s fastener department is a bad joke.

They should switch over to Hillman, or a similar supplier that carries a broad array of specialty fasteners, and other items.

Like it! Go big, or go home so to speak.

And sell only made in America products!

Thanks Dean. Other side of town. I’m in Nordonia, and the Sears was right here down 82. Will check them out though!

Home Defect isn’t too bad for fasteners in the drawers.

McMaster-Carr is great online.

I like your selling only made in America stuff idea.

I wonder how to go about contacting one of Trump’s sons and suggesting this?

They could call it MAGA. (If Trump hasn’t copyrighted it yet)

This is online stuff. Libs are winning with fake news triggering conservatives. Sears and Kmart hardly sell anything anyway.
