Received this e-mail this morning from a friend of ours about his son who works at the Pentagon:
Good news at last!
Our son, "Joe", works in a leadership position within US Special Operations, specializing in counter-terrorism, at the Pentagon. I spoke with him last night to get his view of how the first week of the Trump administration was perceived there. It was a short conversation but very informative.
The difference he said is nothing short of amazing. It is almost as though you can feel it in the air, in the pace of people strides, in the expressions on their faces. But beyond that, the change in process has been immediate. Within 48 hours several action orders that had been languishing for up to six months between State, NSC, and the White House, were approved and executed. Over the last 8 years ( "Joe" has been there for about 15 years) and particularly, the last 3 to 4, the atmosphere has been stifling. Every little thing had to be vetted by dozens of 30-year old State Department lawyers ( with no military experience) before it even got up the chain, effectively neutering the senior officers and reducing effectiveness to near zero. This past week, "Joe" took something to General Dunford, our Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, and within minutes it was approved by the SecDef, General Mattis ( both Marines, by the way) and greenlighted.
There is new energy flowing through the whole building. There is a new sense of purpose, a new resolve that is palpable. A cloud has been lifted.
Say what you will about our new president, and there certainly is a lot ( pro and con) that could be and is being said, the folks at the pentagon are walking with a new skip in their step.
So glad to hear. Thanks for posting.
The head of US Special Operations Command said Tuesday that the US government is in "unbelievable turmoil," a situation that he suggested could undermine US efforts to fight adversaries such as ISIS.
Great news.
I expected this, but it is nice to have confirmation.
Mission readiness, cultural engineering and rules of engagement need to be changed with a torch and sledge hammer.
Ummm... OPSEC?
Over here!
Wtf would the head of SOCCOM give an interview to CNN about a national military vulnerability?
That’s the mystery.
btt
Not for long after he has an “up close and personal” with mad dog
This one is making the e-mail circuit. When I see policy reversals on females in combat arms assignments, transgender medical procedures and homosexual acceptance, then I’ll know things are changing under the 5 sided roof.
I pray this is true. Our country, and especially our Military, deserves people who want us to succeed. It will be a nice turnaround from the last 8 years.
This is what President Trump and his staff should do to State and EPA and BLM and CIA.... Any others?
Did they finally find out that the real enemy that they need to defend the Constitution and the people of the United States from is the CIA?
Frankly, I am so sick of the constant bashing of Trump that a post like this makes me think that the reality is, that Trump has ignited a real sense of excitement.
We can see than Flynn may have acted out of line, and the replacement looks even better for us. Plus we’ll find out about the leaks.
What we’ve been praying and agonizing for, for all the officers dismissed by zero, being brought back with 10 of their best friends may be happening. Once the Pentagon is restored, CIA and State will be much simpler to de-louse.
What is the capacity of GITMO, again? Big enough for all of zero’s appointees to natsec?
Thanks for posting this... nice to know changes are working like they should.
The military enterprise is much more than Special Operations Command. When I see a focused NMS/NSS/NDS, execution and accountability applied to acquisition and sustainment reform, better/faster CNA/requirements development and better focused S&T investment, and the reversal of social/cultural engineering and politically correct pandering I’ll believe it.
