technology - translation: more automated ordering and delivery systems, in other words, layoffs

refranchising 4,000 stores - translation - getting 4,000 stores net experience off its own balance sheet (leaving what they will return to it as franchise stores).

While this all may mean something on a “per share” basis, I don’t think either one or the menu changes will greatly bring back the customers Mc Donalds lost.

I think DELIVERY tastes are changing, at least in the U.S. Where do I have a hamburger 99% of the time now? At a Smashburger - you order at an order desk and take your order number to a table; then its cooked fresh for you and brought to your table. All not sky high above McDonalds. Or at my local diner, and there too the fare is very good.

McD’s has problems, its fallen far from where it once was... but what I shake my head at again and again is that they keep trying to upscale their menu.... and it NEVER works.... Arch Deluxe anyone?

I mean how many upscale burger attempts have they had in the last 30 years, and none of them stick.

Need to make your existing product better, rather than trying to introduce new “upscale” things... because no one thinking UPSCALE will ever think McD’s.

Its Quick Service.. you need consistent quality and good customer experience. Chick Fil A by far dominates both of these, and they are very successful but you never hear them talk about, he we need a more upscale chicken sandwich.

McD’s has done some short sighted things.. the McCafe concept... which can work in some instances, is a stupid thing system wide. The move away from kids, dumb... etc et.

Service needs improved across the chain and quality certainly needs attention as well... Consistency on both fronts could be better. BK has a better burger, WHEN ITS GOOD, but the customer experience across its chain is utterly inconsistent... While McD’s is more consistent, its certainly not a great experience...

McD’s isn’t going anywhere, but it does need a lot of work
