I could handle a non poisonous snake.
One of those crazy big spiders from Australia is another story.
To: dayglored
A non venomous snake can still give you a nasty bite.

Snakes didn’t used to bother me until I dug up a laundry basket-sized ball of them one winter.
GRRRR-ossed me out.
No snakes, No spiders, thankyouverymuch

But not worse than a Moose bite. Moose bites can be pretty nasty.

So can a non poisonous spider.
If I see anything that might be a spider bite..I slap Prid on it. The pics of Recluse bites freak me out.

I won’t ride on the same plane as Samuel L. Jackson. No, it’s not a black thing. Well, it might be if the snakes are black.

Cool snake! And what are the odds that out of the thousands of female flight attendants - they just happen to have one on this small little plane that isn’t afraid to handle a snake!
I’m not afraid of pet snakes if the owner is there and there is no reason to think it will hurt me - but even so I’m afraid to handle it for fear of dropping it.
But being Alaska - this gal might have been “Meh - it’s just a snake. Now that time I tried to shove that brown bear into a gunny sack.....”

How in the heck could they have missed that snake? Maybe they really didn’t give it much of an effort.

ALL spiders are venomous.
Non-venomous snakes can certainly bite, can draw blood if big enough. But generally, playing with a frisky cat is more painful and bloody.

How much experience do you have being bitten by snakes?

I grew up on a dairy farm. Between the black snakes and the cats, that entire place was kept VERY free of mice and rats.
Black snakes are well worthy of their nickname "the farmer's friend".

A while back there was a story posted here on FR about a Florida woman who was going to pick up her kids at school but everyone was panicked because of a 7 foot alligator.
She went to her car, got some rope, jumped on the gator and tied him up. She just wanted to get the kids instead of waiting.

Not bitten personally but my dog sure yelped when a “harmless” oak snake struck him.

No, I’m not gonna, it’s too easy. I’m just replying to keep expectations low.
