First Real Hope for Flint Water as Trump Bestows $100 Million
Conservative Tribune ^ | 3/20/2017 | Ben Marquis

Under authority granted the agency by the Water Infrastructure Improvements for the Nation Act of 2016, the EPA just issued a $100 million grant to the beleaguered city of Flint, Michigan, to help in the effort at replacing the city’s badly corroded and lead-tainted system of water pipes.

Some progressive critics of President Donald Trump have pointed to his proposed budget cuts at the Environmental Protection Agency as proof that he is a terrible president who doesn’t care about ensuring that Americans have clean air and water.

However, the recent report from The Daily Caller about Trump’s EPA grant just did threw that narrative into a tailspin.

“The people of Flint and all Americans deserve a more responsive federal government,” said EPA Administrator Scott Pruitt in an agency news release. “EPA will especially focus on helping Michigan improve Flint’s water infrastructure as part of our larger goal of improving America’s water infrastructure.”

“We are excited and very grateful to receive these much-needed funds,” Flint Mayor Karen Weaver said. “The City of Flint being awarded a grant of this magnitude in such a critical time of need will be a huge benefit.”

No matter what amount, they will later say it wasn’t enough.

Blame Trump for Flint even tho he had nothing to do with it, instead he bails out the dems that caused the problems. Now they get a free pass and the targets are off their backs.

It will go to union businesses contrwcted by these libtard govt officials, so there will be friend paybacks, and probably kickbacks and campaign donations for the govt folks.

Well this article is giving Trump credit for giving the money even though it was signed last year. So both sides do it.

I hope they do an audit to make sure the money is going where it’s supposed to go.

#5. Great point. The US Govt/EPA needs to appoint a Special Auditor for this project who will have the power to put out “Bids” for work contracts on replacing the lead pipes and other damaged equipment re the water supply. This would open up bidding to non-union companies and avoid a “union-only”, highly priced bidding monopoly.

It must never be a “No Bid” situation because of the sheer degree of union/Democrat politician corruption in the larger cities of America (Boston’s Big Tunnel; NY City’s Rotten Apple union contracts, once dominated by the Mafia; just about any contract in New Jersey, Philadelphia, Chicago, Detroit (maybe this has changed), any major city in California, and I suspect in Portland, Seattle and possibly Houston, among others).

In the 1980’s and 90’s, one dollar in ten on a union construction project went to the Mafia (Gambinos, Gotti, Gigante in NJ, etc. via the Laborers International Union of North America, run by the Coia family, mob-tied). LIUNA was a major donor to the Clintons and the Democrats in the 1995-96 election period.

Nobody knows how much the Mob ripped off in Chicago, Vegas, St. Louis, and other major cities.

From the article (emphasis mine):

"The funding was initially approved by Congress in December and signed into law by former President Barack Obama, but the EPA had to review and approve how the money was to be allocated. The funding wasn’t officially granted until after Pruitt took over the agency."

So Pruitt and Trump could have said "no"...same diff if you ask me; they said "yes, fine" instead, and credit where credit is due!

Is this an example of a President deeming something to be an emergency and acting accordingly to protect the lives of the People?

I agree. The corrupticrats in Flint who CAUSED the ‘crisis’ in the first place will just launder the money again.
After the whole story blew, the state gave them $20 million to fix it. That was a couple of years ago now.... the problem STILL isn’t fixed and now they’re getting federal money..

Utter corruption and a stupid move to give them ANY more money.
