I imagine if it were a big piece of metal it would pack a wallop.
I am wondering if they could remote control the thing—like have little wings come out with an antenna. That tech probably could not survive the launch.
Not sure they have every played with controlled flight. If they can make this a viable system, they will most likely work on that. Right now the railgun is a purely ‘high impact kinetic energy projectile’ weapon system. The railgun ‘rounds’ are similar to the kinetic energy penetrators used by tanks.

It’s a solid metal finned projectile surrounded by a ‘jacket’ that guides it down the rails. Once expelled, the jacket separates away and the projectile continues onwards.
