In honor of her 77th birthday today, I've posted the youtube playlist link to the conservative Christian singer's patriotic album she recorded during the Vietnam War. This was around the time she went on her 3rd Christmas USO tour with the late great funnyman Bob Hope to entertain American troops stationed in South Vietnam. Sidenote: LBJ loved her rendition of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" so much that he requested that she sing it at his funeral burial service which she would later do so in 1973.

My favorite song on that album is In God We Trust. I also like the WWII-era songs This Is My Country and This Is Worth Fighting For.

Interestingly, The House I Live In, was co-written by two hard-core Stalinists, Abel Meeropol and Earl Robinson, who would probably not have approved of her spoken introduction. And The Power and the Glory was written by '60's New Left rabble rouser Phil Ochs.
