Tornado threat for tomorrow for southeast and the Ohio Valley
NOAA Storm Prediction Center ^ | April 4, 2017

Posted on 04/04/2017 6:26:54 PM PDT by rdl6989

An outbreak of severe thunderstorms is likely Wednesday across much of the Southeast, continuing northward along and west of the Appalachians into the Tennessee and Ohio Valleys. This will include supercell development with a risk for tornadoes, some of which will be strong and long-lived, particularly across the Southeast. Large to very large hail and damaging straight-line winds also appear likely.

Great photos. Take me back to when we were smack dab in the midst of the infamous Palm Sunday tornadoes in Elkhart County, Indiana. The photo seen round the world of the massive double tornado that followed the major highway between Elkhart and Goshen.

Yes, they are. Good on the teachers. That system dumped golfball hail on my car at work. Very frightening to see. Told my boss that I was going to the basement.

I lived in sight of Ireland Army Hospital at Fort Knox during that tornado outbreak. I remember a lot of Medevac choppers coming from and going to Brandenburg KY, which had big loss of life, along with Xenia OH. Wife’s parents both worked at the hospital in Elizabethtown KY, about 15 miles away, and they worked a few days straight for the Brandenburg casualties as well, both hospitals were immediately overloaded with trauma cases.

My middle daughter is coming to Auburn in the fall. She plays the trumpet and was accepted into the music program. War Eagle!

Indeed it is! It’s a pleasure to see people of all walks come together to help others when something dire happens.
But it’s a pleasure we really don’t want to have to repeat. No one wants others to suffer losses like that. Life’s tough enough as it is.

Worst part was spending hours trying to get through to her house (never could) and searching for her at the hospital.

Finally went to the funeral home and saw 6 bodies lying on the garage floor. One was covered with a crocheted blanket and had her tiny little-old-lady shoes sticking out the bottom.

The Palm Sunday storms pretty much wiped out Russiaville, IN that day. Only about 15 miles from where I now live.

One reason why I like living in the country in a brick house where I have an unobstructed view to the west of me for as far as the eye can see.
