I believe that we dropped Vietnam-era “Daisy cutters” (BLU-82B) in Iraq - an earlier (15,000-pound) version of this kind of super munition, which was used to suddenly blow open Landing Zones in jungles.

They actually warned friendly units across the border before dropping those Daisy Cutters during Desert Storm.

Shock wave caves them in unless they’re extensively reinforced and shored.

>>>weighs 21,600 pounds, is 30 feet long, contains 11 tons of explosives<<<
>>>Somebody got their math wrong<<<

You know what they say, close enough for Government work.

The pressure wave is enormous - to get a small idea of what it might be like, stand 10 feet away and 2 feet ahead of the barrel (parallel to it of course) from someone shooting a .308 or 300-06, and you will have a small idea of what such a shock wave can do when it encompasses all under it for a mile.

This is not the first time that I heard the MOAB acronym. I am pretty certain that we used it before.

Meanwhile, I am happy we have a President who is willing to use our full arsenal where it is appropriate.

Well, neither of the two articles up on Breaking News about this same story has any reference to ISIS at all. http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3543879/posts http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3544084/posts

Wouldn’t you say that our bombing of ISIS is more important than our merely dropping a bomb in Afghanistan for whatever reason?

FReepers need to know we just bombed the hell out of ISIS, just as Trump promised. Please either put this article back up on Breaking News, or change the headlines of one of the articles now in Breaking News to mention ISIS as the target of the bombing.

Thank you.

Shalom, it looks like almost 100 “nobodies” are now dead.

If only Trump had eliminated Michelle O’s lunch program as you demanded, instead of blowing up a useless bomb in a useless area in which no one was affected, you would then have a reason to think he had done something, right?

You have the mind and heart of an idiot.

Someone else may have done this on this thread, but I wanted to add this just in case.

This MOAB bomb was estimated to carry 21,600 lbs of TNT. LINK

That is 10.53 tons of TNT. (1 ton = 2000 pounds)

Definition of a kiloton: LINK

The Hiroshima bomb was pegged at 15 thousand tons of TNT and the Nagasaki bomb was pegged at 21 thousand tons of TNT. LINK
