Years ago we were on vacation in Florida, and leaving a gift shop, found a $100 bill laying on the ground.

My wife (a little naive) wanted to go inside and leave the bill with a clerk in case someone came back to claim it.

I told her no way and that it would disappear into the clerk’s pocket as soon as we walked out the door.

However I did go back inside and talked to the manager. I gave her my card and told her that we had found something outside that someone would likely want back. And if anyone came in looking for something they lost, to call me and if they could identify it, I would get it back to them.

Never heard from anyone.

I did the same thing with a Gym bag I found early AM on the side walk of an ocean side upscale restaurant.
Think it was on the roof of a car ??
Inside a 35mm camera,200 cash and a Rolex that stoped running and now valued at over 10,000.
I contacted the rest owner a friend of mine and the local PD told them I found an item on the side walk.
PD said bring it in and if no one claims it in X days its mine.
I told them no thanks if any one comes looking have them contact the rest mgr/owner for guidance.
Told the rest owner/mgr friend of mine the same thing and to call me if anyone comes looking.
Never heard from any one.
