The death of the SEALs is tragic.
Are we really deploying an AC130 to attack eight fighters? How is that protecting the US homeland?
What the hell are we still doing there?
I guess sometimes you gotta stomp on a scorpion with a boot or shoot it with a shot gun. Just kill’em All and let Allah sort’em out.
seems perfectly reasonable to me.
That's not even the worst example of cost-effectiveness that I've read about. What about all those strikes where the jets bring back their ordnance because somebody (it's never said where) refused clearance to fire? The pilot assumes almost the same risk whether he (or she) is dropping ordnance or not. Plus the cost of the sortie is lost. What about 59 Tomahawk missiles fired at that Syrian airbase where they reportedly tried to avoid creating too many casualties? That's a heckuva salvo that only destroyed a handful of aircraft and didn't even take out the runway (not that the runway couldn't be patched in 24 hours).
They were there as part of “close air support” for an offensive operation of ours. Not out looking for 8 bad guys.
Attack helicopters were deployed to strike the eight fighters.
