He’ll try to seize the Carl Vinson like the Pueblo. Won’t be as easy as it was in 1968.

After what the Norks pulled on SK's "Cheonan" a few years ago (blew it into three pieces, using one of their mini-subs) Lil'FatKid is probably thinking,
"Submarines".
Here's a Google Earth shot of just one cove on the island across from the launching pad in Sinpo, where his last missile launch blew up:
I count eight Type 33 / Romeos -- plus several minisubs -- in one cove, out in the open.
Wouldn't be at all surprised of he has half his sub fleet positioned to lurk on the bottom where he expects the US carrier group to station...
Hey -- he got away with it with the South; does he really think we will be that forgiving, too?

I have long wondered about that incident. I have to wonder whether they “just did” without our knowledge; or if we let them, so they wouldn’t know our asub capability.
Naval intelligence spends a lot of time just trying to figure out what the enemy knows.

Everyone here IMHO that is seriously contemplating how the next war may/will take shape, needs to read Ghost Fleet.
The book melds nonfiction style research on emerging trends and technology with a fictional exploration of what war at sea, on land, in the air, space, and cyberspace will be like in the future.
The author is an ‘insider’ for the pentagon and war scenario thinktanks.

I read that this book is REQUIRED reading for CIA and FBI new hires.

Scratch the info, it's an old rumor. Here's this:
I went to the tweet above and this is the article they are referencing:

I know it caused quite a stir at the pentagon.
Who’s to say who knows what exactly. My point was that we can’t underestimate anyone.
It’s a shame the can was kicked so far down the road until we find ourselves in this position.

That was CV-3 Saratoga. She really took alot of damage before she went under.I hear that on days when the sea is clear that you can see her forward flightdeck while flying over her.At least she is not 3 miles down like her sister Lexington.

Wont be as easy as it was in 1968.
No shiite. Even in 1968 no one would have confused the Carl Vinson with the Pueblo.
