But you can always tell when DiogenesLamp has lost his argument because he falls back on ludicrous accusations, in this instance “objectivity”.
If HandyDandy responds by citing more historical facts DiogenesLamp will pay him the ultimate complement, by refusing to even read HandyDandy’s posts.
Hit & run poster, it’s all DiogenesLamp has.
Thanks for the compliment, BroJoeK. I am just trying to hold my own as an amateur buff. I am amazed at some of the very informed posters I find in these threads. This thread especially has turned up some new and very knowledgeable posters. I always learn things from your posts.
If you think that's a compliment, then I can see why you are having trouble understanding the economic evidence that made a war for economic control a necessity for the North.

Unrelated to the scatological tautology, there was this recent best in class, if unfeasibly large, contribution to the debate:

Had he succeeded, France and England would have stepped in on the side of the South, and the United States of America would have been relegated to the ash bin of history. Instead, Lee f’d up and got his ass handed to him at Gettysburg. Deal with it. Lincoln could whup you hand to hand, he could whup you in court, he could whup you in an election and he could whup you in a Civil War. He could out wrastle, outsmart, out write, and generally best any Southerner who ever lived. He was the greatest American who ever lived.”
