In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
abstemious; adj.
1.
sparing or moderate in eating and drinking; temperate in diet.
2.
characterized by abstinence: an abstemious life.
3.
sparing: an abstemious diet.
Etymology: 1615-25; < Latin abst ē mius, equivalent to abs- abs- + t ē m - (base of t ē m ē tum intoxicating drink) + -ius -ious
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.

Just for your own reference, xsmommy, ‘abstemious’ is one of only two words in English which has all five primary vowels in order, each appearing exactly once.

No, no. They never refrain from excess. In factb, the democrats DEMAND that their voters cast every ballot possible, using as many abstemtious ballots as they can fill out with as many different names as they can think up fro as many states as they can travel to.
