Posted on 06/10/2017 7:03:58 PM PDT by MNDude

A few weeks ago we had a thread with a subject of who the greatest male vocalist ever were. There were many great comments on that thread. So for tonight, I am asking who do you think are the three greatest female vocalists ever?

Karen Carpenter, had perhaps the most naturally liquid and fluid voice. Could sing powerfully without all the vocal gymnastics used today to cover for lack of talent. I cannot even think of another two.

*** “Bette Midler” ***

They sedated me for my Colonoscopy but I’m betting Bette Midler was the music that they were playing for the procedure

Unfortunate miss-spelling, corrected above. As far as Bebel Gilberto (the silkiest, sexiest, sultriest, gentlest voice ever),

I will see your Bebel Gilberto and raise you one Paula Morelenbaum. Ever hear her sing "A Correnteza" with Quarteto Jobim Morelenbaum? In my top three most beautiful songs of all time.

Hillary Clinton, Chelsea Clinton, and then Hillary again.

That would be the words a canary would hopefully sing.

Kelly Clarkson can sing almost any genre, and sing it well.
Great range and power.
I personally enjoy her voice more than either Whitney or Mariah, ones who so many say are the finest singers of the last 40 years.

Karen Carpenter (pure velvet), Whitney Huston (The Voice who changed musical style forever), and Judy Garland, one of the strongest diaphragms in the history of recorded music.

FYI, there is a Carpenters special on PBS right now and Karen sounds awesome. Add her to my top three.
