If Rod Rosenstein recuses himself, Robert Mueller may be next (Turley)
The Hill ^ | June 16, 2017 | Jonathan Turley

A news report today sent Washington into another spasm when it appeared that ABC and other news outlets reported that Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein confirmed that he might have to recuse himself from any further involvement in the Russian investigation.

While the news account has not been verified, there is actually very good reason for Rosenstein’s recusal. Moreover, any recusal by Rosenstein would add questions about the status of Special Counsel Robert Mueller himself.

While I doubt Mueller's ego would ever allow him to recuse himself, this was a very well written piece by Turley on the reasons why he should.

IF there is ANY honesty, they both would recuse and shut the damn thing down.

I just went on record for recusing myself from this investigation.

Now it's Trump's turn.

Exactly. As Levin was screaming this afternoon, it was a counterintelligence investigation that started last June, and they never found anything in all that time. Why should it then change to a criminal investigation, now, rather than being shut down?

Answer: The Democrats, the media, and even complicit Republicans who want Trump removed from office, or at least tied up defending himself. So far they are winning, and Trump needs to calm down on Twitter and start making the case calmly and logically to the public via speeches and rallies that point out the absurdity, while at the same time getting the AG on the Clinton and Obama case, so the media has to spend half their time defending them instead of just attacking Trump.

The most obvious reason for Rosenstein to recuse himself would be the prospect of his being a potential witness in the obstruction of justice investigation against President Trump. Recently a leak from the special counsel investigation revealed that Trump is now a potential target — a leak clearly calculated to deter Trump from his reported consideration of firing Mueller.

Rosenstein started this and has a duty to supervise it. If he recuses himself, Trump should fire him on the simple grounds that he is incapable of executing his duties as DAG.

Even if they recuse themselves or if they get fired, there will be someone else to replace them. Trump and his supporters have to be diligent and beat the Swamp critters at their own game.

Absolutely. Immediately. He really deserves to be fired now, for unnecessarily escalating the investigation to a criminal inquiry the way he did. In other articles I've read, Rosenstein apparently even told Mueller that he would be willing to recuse himself if Mueller decides he should, so apparently that is what we are waiting on, and proves Rosenstein isn't even supervising the case now.

Sessions, Rosenstein, Mueller ........ recusals on account of Russia? Then Schumer goes too.

You cant get any worse Russian conflict than Schumer has.

Exactly why Mueller is building a solid team of anti-Trump lawyers, someone to take the helm if he has to step down.

If Rosenstein refuses, it falls to Rachel Brand...which is good...then she gets to puck Mueller’s successor

Here’s one of the places it’s documented that Rosenstein told Mueller that he would leave it up to Mueller if Rosenstein should recuse himself. This apparently happened way back before Mueller was even appointed, which leads one to wonder if this all hasn’t been a setup from the start.

If Rosenstein recuses, then Brand could fire Mueller if he doesn’t recuse due to his own conflicts. But Rosenstein is on the record saying he is leaving his own recusal up to Mueller, so Mueller is likely telling Rosenstein he doesn’t need to recuse himself, because he knows what will probably happen if he does.

Trump should appoint a commission to investigate the criminally incompetent actions of Robert Mueller prior to the Boston Bombing. Americans simply do not understand how easily that could have been prevented, and how Mueller’s insane moves to rid the FBI of “Muslim profiling” and engage in “outreach” to radical mosques, like the Tsarnaev’s, made that attack inevitable, capped off by how the FBI completely ignored Russia and Israel’s warnings about Tsarnaev.

Had Comey come out on January 21, 2017 (or any early date) to announce that newly inaugurated President Trump was NOT a target of ANY investigation, this entire damn “Russian collusion” investigation would have NEVER grown legs.

Comey deserved to be fired on that count alone.

ALL these investigations need to be stopped immediately!

They are OUT OF CONTROL WITCH HUNTS!

Mueller, like Comey, has a long record of incompetence, if not sedition. Here’s an article with video on his testimony regarding his supposed investigation into Obama’s misuse of the IRS:
