Word For The Day, Tuesday June 20, 2017
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
aporia [uh-pawr-ee-uh, uh-pohr-]
-n
1. Rhetoric. the expression of a simulated or real doubt, as about where to begin or what to do or say.
2. Logic, Philosophy. a difficulty encountered in establishing the theoretical truth of a proposition, created by the presence of evidence both for and against it.
[1580-90; < Late Latin < Greek: state of being at a loss, equivalent to ápor(os) impassable (see a-6, pore2) + -ia -ia]
“Aporia” was the title of last week’s episode of “Fargo.”
At 6pm on November 8th, 2016 the Democrats were in euphoria over the coming Hilliary! landslide victory.
Six hours later they were in aphoria over the reality of her historic comeuppance...............
The left’s aporia is on display
They lost the election and all they can say
They were cheated and hacked
Not that Hillary lacked
Or her campaign was in disarray.
Be careful! The whole state is going bankrupt, so Aporia, IL accounts may be jeopardized...
The election in Georgia: aporia
The libs showing muted euphoria
When their guy was winning
They screamed, “New beginning”
Handel’s closing, so “sic transit gloria”
Indeed!
Dems' aporia
on the state of politics
is fleeting and fake.
It started off with euphoria
A virtual liberal phantasmagoria
But to their grief
There is no beef
Now we are hearing their aporia
