There are usually 365 days in a year. That means on average 3 or 4 of those days would be the “hottest in the last 100 years” just based on random chance alone. This hottest in history (how long have we had good measurements for Phoenix?) will be broken a day or two a year at least just based on odds. Same with coolest.

I’m okay with heat and hope to be moving my family to Phoenix at the earliest opportunity. SF is dead last on my list.

My son is dating a gal from California - he grew up and lives in Seattle. A hot day for him is 80 degrees. (This morning our heat kicked on - I need to turn it down more!) She is moving to Phoenix. We told him he should wait for winter to move down there to acclimate a little bit.

He did draw the line though on her looking for a job in Chicago!
