A Mechanism for Selectively Erasing Memories Was Just Discovered

If you had the chance to erase your worst, most painful memories, would you do it?

...

Basically, by deactivating the proteins that have encoded memories into your brain, you could theoretically restore the neural state that preceded a traumatic memory. Not only would you forget what happened, but your brain wouldn’t even have the infrastructure to recall the memory anymore.

Memories are believed to form at neural synapses, the sites where electrical impulses are passed back and forth between neurons. Changes in these neural synapses can both strengthen and weaken memories. Protein kinase M molecules (PKM) are an essential part of memory formation that can be activated by external stimulation, such as a traumatic event.

“They amplify whatever the external signal was to create internal change that can last from minutes to decades,” Samuel Schacher, a professor of neuroscience at CUMC and co-author of the study, told Seeker.

These PKMs are guarded by another protein, KIBRA, that allows them to remain constantly active — thereby keeping a memory alive. But the research team’s findings show that a disruption either to the PKMs or the KIBRA proteins that protect them can produce a partial or complete memory erasure.

...

The scientists conducted the experiment in a petri dish by shocking a neural circuit from the sea slug Aplysia, an animal that is commonly used in neuroscience research because of its relatively simple nervous system. They found that both associative and non-associative memories exist separately in the same neuron, and that they could selectively erase either type by disrupting the PKM molecule.

The fact that associative and non-associative memories are distinct means that you could turn off the harmful, non-associative memory of an event while keeping the helpful associative memory.

“That is fascinating. Is there a book you’d recommend to learn more about this topic?”

After years of people requesting the book, I am right now working on it. I’m reluctant to go public in many ways as people want me to fix them rather than learning how to heal themselves.

As I mentioned above, people’s stored memories of their past experiences in life are physical objects to my perception. Just as you would find the sharp pebble in the grass while walking across it barefoot, people’s highly charged emotional memories stand out like a huge sharp pebble for my body. I feel their physical and emotional pain in my body that they experienced when the original event occurred sometime in their past.

Using this tool, I have been working with people to find the root perceptual programming events in their lives that created many various physical illnesses and/or mental illnesses. The majority of our physical pains are caused by our body’s defense mechanisms trying to block the retrieval of the memory that has painful emotion or physical pain attached to it. For example, the knife in the back feeling associated with betrayal is actually the spinae muscle tightening to block neural transmission from the peripheral nervous system into the central nervous system by putting a tourniquet hold on the afferent spinal nerve cell body head in the dorsal root ganglion just over the T1-T2 vertebrae.

Every time I touch the memory stored in the soul field around the body, a person’s physical body responds with the defense behavior, even though I am several feet from them, do not touch them, say nothing, and their eyes are closed or blindfolded.

A similar process is the cause of virtually all physical back pain, especially in the lumbar region. When I remove the negative emotion attached to the original memory, the defense response is no longer needed to block the pain and the body restores homeostasis.

I’m not psychic. This is similar to x-rays reading bone patterns. Consciousness is physical to me.

One of the most surprising things I have found is the great impact of a mother’s memories passing from her to her child in utero. Memories begin at conception when the soul arrives. However, a child in the womb perceives the mother’s experiences as happening to them, thus creating an inter-generational transfer of the trauma. If a person now 70 yrs old was an unwanted child or put up for adoption at birth, the feeling of rejection will create an emotional memory that will often knock a person off their feet when I merely touch the stored memory many feet from their physical bodies. Incidentally, this person could have been an Olympic gold medalist or a Nobel prize winner and they would not feel “Good Enough” due to this underlying perceptual programming event’s impact upon their personality development. There are many variables impacting “nurture” that people are unaware of in their lives.

One of the most fascinating aspects of this is locating the memories that created the pre-disposition to cancer by suppression of the immune system. I’m like a kid with a new microscope and everything is fascinating, even though I have been doing this for over 25 years.

Thank you for replying.

Are you published? I ask because of personal circumstances that have me genuinely fascinated by what you’re saying (I deliberately shy from using the more pejorative claiming) and would like to know more.

“Are you published?”

I will be very soon. My wife has written her chapters of the book two years ago and I have been on hold for my chapters. To date it did not feel right for some reason.

Now, everything is falling into place and I have the entire next two months of peace and quiet to finish my chapters.

My wife is an MD psychiatrist with close to 30 years on the faculty at a major medical school and a Fellow at the American Psychiatric Association. Her name recognition alone will open a lot of doors for the book and bring it into the medical/psychiatric profession mainstream very quickly. We are self publishing it for the first few thousand copies in order to fine tune the edit process.

It’s amazing that even the leading memory and consciousness researchers don’t comprehend the ramifications of what I am showing them. It’s such a paradigm shift that it is almost as great as convincing the flat earth folks that the world is round. Thomas Kuhn was very correct in his book “The Structure of Scientific Revolutions.”

Quite a few years ago I did an all day presentation for a select group of about a dozen top think tank folks in the Washington DC intelligence community. It freaked them out when I demonstrated what I do. Their response, the public is not ready for this as people need to think that their thoughts are private.... Bottom line... all thoughts, including my own are public domain.

Much of my work includes utilizing reputable journal articles in peer reviewed publications that are based upon evidence based research. I then explain and demonstrate a totally different understanding for their research results without discounting their work by taking it to a higher level of understanding.

I’m reading your posts today with great interest. Are you familiar with the books written by Dr John Sarno who believed that most instances of chronic pain such as back pain or gastrointestinal disorders, are physical manifestations of deep-seated psychological anxieties? Some of the things you are saying sound related to his beliefs.

He believed that the understanding of functions the brain are in it’s infancy and the medical community underestimates the power that the brain has over us. He postulated that when the brain is overloaded with pain and trauma it relives the pressure by transferring the pain to another part of the body. The malady can be treated and conquered only when the sufferer understands, and acknowledges, that the physical pain is not the result not of a physical weakness or disease but of psychological trauma.

I googled his name to make sure I got the spelling correct and his 6/23/2017 NY Times obituary popped up. Kind of spooky.

Since God does the judging, he will provide the memories.

Does your computer's manufacturer or your ISP provide all your content? God has His vast point of view; we have our limited one. Judgment will help us learn the difference.

Actually, since your body will decay in the grave, it isn’t an issue of your memories, anyway. Or, if you die with Alzheimer’s. In either case, the memories stored in your body will be gone.

No medical procedure to wipe out memories has ANY bearing on the Last Judgment.

God does not merely see things as “a big picture.” God knows EVERYTHING. God knows the exact location, at every instant, of every electron in every atom in every galaxy in the universe.

I am not familiar with his work. I generally only research to gain understanding of a specific anatomical or physiological function in the human body and to find evidence based research to explain the questions that pop up in my experiences. Most of what I comment on is based upon my own experiences and not someone else’s theories. However, I can usually explain why the other theorists came to their conclusions, even if I don’t totally agree with them. I have the utmost respect for virtually everyone’s work.

That being said, based upon what you are saying he appears to be mostly correct except that I do not consider the mind to be based within the physical body. I sense consciousness or the human soul as the puppeteer for and creating the physical body and it exists way beyond the physical body. (Right now my furthest memory location identified was approximately 105 feet from a woman’s physical body) That is where all thought processing, memory storage and retrieval, and perception formulation are done. The Bible, and other sacred scriptures are correct. My experience is that Jesus’ teachings are 100% correct. I actually demonstrate why Jesus taught what He did with volunteers during presentations.

I have so many unanswered questions and so little time... It’s humbling as every answered question leads to many more unanswered questions. For example, right now I’m trying to determine the cause of seizures and anxiety. It feels like an unusual brain wave frequency combination I normally do not feel in the human soul.

Schizophrenia was a tough one. It took me five weeks of working with a patient to determine the unusual combination of events that shifted the consciousness in to a state of no individual self, but a dependency self based upon a co-dependency with the voices heard by the emotional consciousness encapsulated by an early childhood trauma. It takes two separate events to trigger schizophrenia. (The cure is to create an adversarial rebellion between the person and the inner voices much the way a teenager rebels against their parents to formulate an individual sense of self. The downfall is that you must facilitate a trusting dependency between the patient and yourself that is a 24/7 commitment during the transition process in order to validate the patient’s self identity until a healthy one is formed)

Autism was an easy one as it is caused by a super masculine consciousness. All I needed to do was walk through the soul field to identify the memory that represented the shift in consciousness. Generally I found it during the third month of pregnancy during neural tube development. There are a few factors I have found that influence this shift.

Autism and Asperger’s work led me to identifying what typically creates learning disabilities in children. Generally caused by a premature shift in consciousness and the learning environment not matching the required pattern of stimulus to facilitate learning. Autistic spectrum children can not learn emotionally which is the way most elementary schools teach until about third grade. This is the downfall of the education system in most inner city schools where the children are 7 going on 35!

The other topic that fascinates me right now is the impact of gut microbes on neurotransmitter production, especially serotonin and dopamine. Science is now proving what I was explaining in detail 10 years ago about the effect of spinal and vagus nerve stressors upon the production of serotonin in the enterochromaffin like cells in the lining of the upper GI and stomach. I could feel it when I worked with people and it puzzled me.. I saw a repeat combination of lumbar pain, GI issues and depression. I found that by removing the stressor(which was usually a childhood security issue), the back relaxed(no muscle contraction blocking defense needed when the trauma is resolved) and the pain diminished, which in turn relaxed the efferent neurons in the front of the spine which facilitated the stomach functioning better and producing 5HTP which in turn got rid of the depression without any medication. I noted that people with the three symptom combination did not respond to SSRI medication like Prozac as the overall deficiency in the body was not helped sufficiently by a reuptake inhibitor.

By the way, understanding human consciousness makes you a conservative in your thinking. A compassionate conservative, but absolutely conservative. Facilitating laziness and victimhood by being liberal is not healthy for an individual consciousness or society as a whole.

Good points; I suppose this comes down to whether our souls are connected to the Divine "cloud storage" while we are alive. Or, that the info is "wirelessly" transmitted as part of the death process, over which we are not in control. I've been mulling this over for some time.

By definition, everything that exists, God knows. Anything God does not know, cannot exist. Being known by God, and BEING, are synonymous and coterminous.

God is omnipresent and omniscient. Thus, he is not in some other place, to which information needs to be transmitted.

Also, everything is present to God. There is no past or future. When we are judged, God will not be “remembering”—he will be SEEING.

I use to be a flaming liberal until I had child. That, and the the Clinton presidency, turned me into a conservative.

I agree with that. But we do have free will, so there must be some agency that is ours or there would be no call to surrender.

Of course we are free.

If we had no free will, it would never occur to us.
