One of the biggest shocks I had as a teacher is when I wrote in cursive on the board and more than 1/2 my students could not read it.
How in God good earth are they suppose to be able to read original documents. I guess they will have to take the word of the government on what is written.

You mean after they are taught to just plain read? If learning how to read music is taught in school, it will be just as hidden from them as reading is now.

My printing is half-way legible; however, I have seen recent printing by a young banker that was real art.
Germany has gone through three different print styles, and survived as a nation.

Not only is writing nice—it's established that taking notes during class is a much better way to remember the material than simply reading, listening or highlighting. There is a process that happens in the brain when the person recreates the words themselves. You can't do that on a keyboard, as it's not the same, and it's way slower.
Likewise for my work—I have to take a lot of quick notes, and I would never have time to get down all of the information I need if I had to type it or print it.
